A gorgeous and relaxing day on the water and the beach with our tour guide, Julio. His chill vibe was needed after several busy days. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the flamingos as they had already left the area but the beautiful mangroves are enough on their own. For lunch, I highly recommend paying extra for the whole red snapper. It was fresh, cooked and seasoned to perfection.
With mangroves, crocodiles, egrets and the famous flamingos, Celestun is an enchanting place well worth a day trip from Merida. Alberto, a warm and knowledgeable guide, gave our group the 101 on Mayan life and language as well as what we’d come to see. Be warned: The motor boat ride is rough. The tour includes a mediocre beachfront lunch with your choice of main course and nonalcoholic beverage. Bring lots of sunscreen. It’s bright on the water.
The places itself were beautiful, but I went to trip to see mangroves, and the boat tour was mainly open water and maybe maximun 5 minutes in mangroves. Also our quide who spoke little english didnt came to the boat, so that whole time everything was only spanish. Also we didnt stop to the market at the beginning As sead in the timetable.
I recommend this trip. The guide/ driver was very good and pleasant. It was a relaxing trip with beautiful scenery. The only down fall was the guide on the boat( different one) did not speak or understand English. We made do with an app but missed a good deal. This did not take away from the beauty. The meal provided was very good.
Highly recommended, super nice and people who take you by boat and very friendly mangroves and explain during the tour each eetalle
Flamingos great . So delicate Lots of food is available so groups were small If food shortage they would have been larger groups. Small group on boat Area is magical
Beautiful and relaxed tour and nice to get back to Mérida late in the afternoon and not late at night. It's not good value though - too expensive.
Julio is an excellent guide. The boat trip to see the flamingos was beautiful. The beach is fun, but a bit crowded.
The boat ride into the mangroves was spectacular, contorted root formations, red water and exotic birds… Flamingos seen from far away, and one small crocodile. Celestún beach has tricky currents and a sudden dip, beware!
We knew the ride would be long, but the boat ride was great. We actually saw a couple of crocodiles as well as a flock of pink flamingos. Dipped our toes in the cool Cenote. Our driver Carlos was great, good sense of humor and made the ride enjoyable. We also enjoyed meeting the other folks that were on the trip with us. Well worth the time and cost.
