A Cabo Espichel si trova il complesso del Santuario di Nostra Signora di Cabo Espichel - Chiesa di Nostra Signora di Cabo, Eremo della Memoria, Casa delle Candele, Piazza a Cabo Espichel, Croce, Casa dell'Acqua, e Acquedotto a Cabo Espichel."
Le origini del castello di Sesimbra risalgono al IX secolo, durante il periodo dell'occupazione musulmana del territorio. Nel 1165 fu conquistata dal re Alfonso Henriques, ma nel 1191 fu persa dagli Almohadi. La sua riconquista definitiva fu effettuata dal re Sancho I nel 1199, che concesse la prima carta al villaggio di Sesimbra, che all'epoca si trovava all'interno delle mura del castello. Durante tutto il Medioevo, per la sua importanza strategica nella difesa dei confini marittimi e terrestri del regno, il castello subì numerosi ampliamenti
L'incontro tra le montagne e il mare ha dato origine a un tratto di spiagge di sabbia fine con acque cristalline che ci si aspetterebbe di trovare solo nel Mediterraneo, come Figueirinha, Galapos e Portinho da Arrábida. Questa regione fu favorita dai frati francescani che, tra il XVI e il XIX secolo, vissero nel convento ancora in piedi e meditarono nelle cappelle appartate sparse per la Serra. Arrábida offre condizioni eccellenti per l'agricoltura e l'allevamento, con conseguente produzione di prodotti locali di alta qualità. Tra i punti salienti ci sono i vini, che puoi esplorare seguendo la Strada del Vino della Costa Blu. Piastrelle fatte a mano – Tre diverse tecniche Pittura a mano tradizionale: Ogni piastrella è accuratamente dipinta a mano utilizzando pennelli pregiati e vivaci vernici ceramiche, consentendo disegni intricati e unici. This tour truly became one of our favorites during the visit to Portugal. Our wonderful guide Ricardo went out of his way to showcase the stunning beauty of Arrabida. He picked us up near our hotel in Lisbon, making everything so convenient. Throughout the day, we stopped at many breathtaking viewpoints and beaches that left us in awe. Ricardo was incredibly kind and even took photos of my mom and me throughout the tour. He captured some truly special candid moments that we would have never been able to get ourselves. Overall, the tour went smoothly, and we both felt completely relaxed and at ease. We enjoyed some divine wines at the Bacalhoa winery, and before that, Ricardo kindly offered us delicious fresh cheese and bread from the local market. After winery visits, we had a wonderful lunch at a charming local restaurant—I had one of the best shrimp curry stews ever! Our last stop was at a tile workshop, where we learned even more about the beautiful Portuguese tiles and how they are crafted and painted. Ricardo generously shared a wealth of insights into Portuguese culture and lifestyle. He also offered fantastic tips on how to explore more hidden gems around Lisbon and make the most of your visit.
