Great walk along the Levada mostly through overhanging canopy and along steep overgrown rockface. Gentle, with some uneven ground. Self guided - Vvry simple route. Driver- Andre - was very friendly and helpful and told us a bit about life in Madiera as we travelled the 1 hour from Funchal to the start point.
Our driver Fábio was highly professional and very friendly which made the experience overall great. I would highly recommend Fábio and Levadas In and Out Team for their service. They made pickup and drop off easy and they were easy to reach via message. The hike itself was a very good experience, it was a beautiful walk. I would imagine it would be fine for anyone to achieve.
The PR18 was magnificent!! I loved this walk in nature. Plus, Flavio was super friendly. He took care to explain everything we needed to make this hike even more incredible. I highly recommend.

I booked this activity through Viator and my experience was quite disappointing. The initially marked activity was changed by the company to another route. Although the change was communicated to me, I was never clearly explained that I would complete the walk completely alone, without a guide, without a group and without any accompaniment. Before the activity I even expressed concern about the absence of a guide and sought clarifications. At no time was I told that I would simply be left at the beginning of the journey to carry it out by myself. The situation caused anxiety and a feeling of insecurity, especially because I found myself alone on a journey I did not know, compromising my safety. Regardless of the nature of the service sold, I believe that the communication and management of customer expectations have been far behind what would be expected. I would never hire this service again.

Compreendemos que preferisse realizar a caminhada acompanhada, mas esse não era o produto adquirido. Dispomos igualmente de caminhadas guiadas, distintas do serviço de transfer, para clientes que pretendem esse tipo de experiência. Respeitamos a sua opinião, mas consideramos importante esclarecer estes factos para que futuros clientes não sejam induzidos em erro quanto ao serviço efetivamente prestado.
Fabio was an excellent guide to the levada walk. The hike was a good introduction to the levadas and fairly easy to negotiate. Wonder recommend waterproofs as we got soaked!

Our guide Fabio was friendly and nice, and on time for both pick up and return and a very good driver. The transfer made going to the hike a lot more convenient as you can just focus on the hike and nature. The hike itself was amazing, so many beautiful waterfalls and lush and greenery. I highly recommend both the hike and this transfer.

We had the pleasure of having Flávio as our driver to PR18 and he was absolutely brilliant! Communication from the beginning was excellent with information and times being sent the day before right up to the pick up time for outside our hotel. The transfer was smooth and Flávio was friendly and full of information about the island and the walk itself. We felt extremely well looked after as he offered phone support if we needed it and gave us enough time to grab something to eat at the end in the little cafe at the end The walk itself is beautiful and not too busy. Some amazing views and a lovely waterfall to sit at the turnaround. Don’t forget to bring your waterproof as you pass through a small waterfall on the actual trail itself. We highly recommend this trip. We were a family of 4 with two older teenage boys.
