Nel mezzo del centro storico, il Tempio di Bach Ma è uno dei templi più antichi e sacri della città, fondato originariamente nel IX secolo. La traduzione di Bach Ma è White Horse e si riferisce a una storia dietro la costruzione del Tempio. Il re Ly Thai To aveva lottato per costruire il tempio mentre le sue mura continuavano a crollare. Si dice che un cavallo bianco delineasse la zona migliore per costruire il tempio con i suoi zoccoli per aiutare il re nella costruzione del tempio. Entrando nel tempio attraverso alcune antiche porte in legno, dopodiché potrai vedere l'interno splendidamente decorato e un palanchino funerario laccato di rosso. All'interno del tempio troverai una statua del cavallo bianco, un santuario dedicato a Confucio e un altare della fenice per le offerte alle quattro stagioni. Il tempio di Bach Ma è ancora utilizzato attivamente dai fedeli che vengono qui per bruciare incenso e pregare.
Essendo un'architettura unica eterna con alti e bassi della capitale di Hanoi, il Long Bien Bridge è diventato uno dei simboli della città. Il ponte non è solo una costruzione del traffico ma anche una reliquia storica vivente. Sottoposto a guerre francesi e americane, il Long Bien Bridge è stato testimone di numerosi momenti storici. Il ponte Long Bien fu costruito dal 1989 al 1902 durante l'occupazione francese del paese. Non molti sanno che, con una lunghezza di oltre 2 km, il ponte Long Bien era il secondo ponte più lungo del mondo, subito dopo il ponte di Brooklyn dall'americano. È interessante notare che il Long Bien Bridge è l'unico ponte ad Hanoi che consente ai turisti di fare una passeggiata lungo il binario del treno, gustare alcuni dessert o acquistare verdure fresche o pesce dai venditori sul ponte. Inoltre, i visitatori che vengono ad Hanoi hanno affermato che il Long Bien Bridge è il posto migliore per ammirare il tramonto e scattare delle belle foto.
Il mercato di Dong Xuan è stato fondato nel 1889 dai francesi e prende il nome dalla sua posizione. A quel tempo, il mercato era un luogo di scambio favorevole, soprattutto dopo il ponte Long Bien costruito in Francia. Potresti non sapere, ogni antica strada di Hanoi prende il nome dalla loro attività originale, che venivano poi rimossi al mercato di Dong Xuan sotto il dominio francese. Kien was an excellent guide! His personal knowledge of Vietnam history and culture mixed well with his time living in USA and Ireland. English was excellent so he understood question right off. We started tour with a beautiful view of the city from a rooftop lounge, then inside for cold iced coffee and history lesson (sitting in the air conditioning!). We walked to a few interesting places including a tiny alley to see how some live in Hanoi. Kien described culture of "shop roads" and "fake paper" -- things that you wouldn't know just by walking the old Quarter. Highest rating for this walking tour and Kien as our guide!!

We had such an interesting and enjoyable tour with Angelina. It was our first day in Hanoi and it gave us a great starting point for understanding the city and history. The tour was a combination of information, history, conversation and trying some local food along the way. Angelina was a wonderful guide, very open, knowledgeable and fun! Dung was a great guide. Her English was excellent, and she was very friendly and open. I felt I had the opportunity to learn more about how people reallly live, as well as some history/orientation. My only disappointment was that the sites and markets were closed for the 6pm tour, which was NOT clarified for me. Had I known, I probably would have done a different tour. Still, I enjoyed the chat and opportunity to see the city at night with a local. Plus, Dung bought me a treat of delish donuts! I bet the earlier tours are super.

Nice guide that gave us an ok guide of Vietnam and Hanoi. Recommend tours where they have a microphone, as the guide spoke a little low and there is a lot of noise in the streets of Hanoi.
