Quando guidiamo verso il centro città, cammineremo verso la nostra seconda tappa della giornata. Questo è il "Castello di Kyrenia". Il castello fu costruito dai Bizantini e molte aggiunte furono fatte da Lusignano, Veneziani, Ottomani e Inglesi. All'interno del castello c'è un museo del naufragio in cui sono esposte le anfore, le mandorle, i semi e il naufragio. Il naufragio risale al 300 a.C.
Fu costruito come porto durante il periodo veneziano. Allo stesso periodo risale una torre a catena. Il porto è stato costruito a forma di "U". L'ufficio doganale è stato costruito durante il periodo coloniale. Oggi il porto è utilizzato come porto turistico per le escursioni giornaliere in barca. Inoltre ci sono molti caffè che si possono gustare per bere alcolici o bibite?
Questo è un cimitero militare che risale al periodo ottomano del XVI secolo. Si ritiene che il moseleao al centro appartenga a uno dei comandanti della guarnigione ottomana.
La città era circondata da mura durante il periodo lusignano. Questa torre è quella rimasta di quegli anni.
Il vecchio mercato municipale fu costruito dagli inglesi nel 1887 come municipio. In seguito il mercato comunale è stato il centro di frutta e verdura fresca fino a poco tempo fa. Il "Bandabuliya" è stato successivamente restaurato ed è stato un tradizionale bazar per bar, ufficio e sede di eventi.
Il monastero fu costruito dai Lusignani. È uno dei monasteri più belli che fu costruito in epoca medievale in Medio Oriente. Ha una struttura gotica. Era in uso fino al 16 d.C.

The whole trip to Kyrenia was an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Sirin, was very kind, competent, and truly passionate. We learned so much from her about Cyprus's history, which made the sightseeing even more special. The organization was perfect and stress-free. Sirin picked us up in Nicosia, crossed the border with us, and drove us around to show us the most beautiful spots in Kyrenia by car. After the tour, she dropped us back in Nicosia safely. If you are looking for the best trip in Cyprus with a comfortable, private atmosphere, you will definitely have it with her. Highly recommended! :)

Kyrenia castle in the old marina is a must to see. The shipwreck museum in the castle dates back to 300 BC - the oldest in the world. Bellapais Monastery was our second stop of the day. Located on the Kyrenia Mountain. Typical gothic style architecture. I did this tour with Sirin. She was flexible with the start time and I enjoyed the local coffee when we enjoyed outside the monastery. If you are looking for a half day tour I highly recommend this one.

Kyrenia was simply beautiful, and what made it even more special was how naturally Şirin shared her love for the place. She has this wonderful way of weaving stories into every stop, without ever overwhelming you. It felt like walking through the past with someone who not only knows the history, but genuinely enjoys sharing it. The atmosphere at the harbor, the view from Bellapais Abbey, the castle. Everything was elevated by her presence and attention to detail.

Anyone visiting Cyprus is bound to tour Girne Castle and the Bellapais Monastery. We were very pleased with this trip. Recommended for everyone.
