We stayed in Istanbul through the Turkish Airlines Stopover program, and had about five hours between hotel checkout and heading to the airport. We were picked up from our hotel in Etiler on April 1st in a Mercedes V-Class Maybach. Since it was just the two of us, the ride was exceptionally spacious and comfortable. The driver (whose name we unfortunately didn’t catch) was part of Ayden’s team. Although he didn’t speak much English, he was incredibly kind, professional, and a very careful driver, which made us feel completely at ease throughout the journey. Before the tour, we explained that we weren’t looking to rush through major attractions, but rather wanted a smooth, introductory experience of Istanbul while enjoying the views on the way to the airport. Ayden understood this perfectly. He also stayed in constant communication with the driver regarding timing and destinations, which made everything feel seamless and very well coordinated. We had initially thought about visiting the Tulip Festival, but based on the rain the day before, Ayden suggested a better plan, and it was absolutely the right call. The route he curated was thoughtful and efficient, with perfectly timed photo stops along the way. Around the Blue Mosque area and the Bazaar, we were guided by Mustafa, who was fluent in English and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared many insights and tips throughout, which made the experience not only informative but genuinely enjoyable. What stood out most was that he took us to high-quality local shops rather than typical tourist spots, tailoring everything to what we were looking for. He also helped with price negotiations, allowing us to shop with confidence and ease. One of the most unforgettable moments was being welcomed to a rooftop owned by Ayden’s family, where we were served Turkish tea while overlooking the stunning Topkapi area. While nearby rooftops were crowded, we were able to enjoy the view in a quiet, private setting. It truly felt like a hidden gem. Despite the limited time, everything was smooth, comfortable, and thoughtfully planned. It gave us the perfect introduction to Istanbul and left us wanting to return for a longer visit.
