L'interesse per le arti islamiche è cresciuto enormemente negli ultimi anni. Riflettendo questa consapevolezza, nel dicembre 1998 la Malesia è diventata la sede del più grande museo di arte islamica del Sud-est asiatico. L'edificio occupa 30.000 mq. Il Museo delle arti islamiche della Malesia ospita più di settemila reperti, oltre a un'eccezionale biblioteca di libri di arte islamica. Alle 10 del mattino incontriamo e salutiamo il nostro simpatico autista parlante inglese nella hall dell'hotel e procediamo per il tour e verrai prelevato dal tuo hotel in un veicolo con aria condizionata e fare un tour attraverso la città di Kuala Lumpur. Il Museo delle arti islamiche (IAMM) è uno dei migliori musei della Malesia con oltre 7000 manufatti di alta qualità provenienti da tutto il mondo islamico. Questa galleria mostra esempi di architettura islamica che vanno dall'Africa all'Estremo Oriente. Mi sono piaciuti particolarmente i modelli del Taj Mahal, i disegni insoliti della moschea in vari paesi e il modello su larga scala della Masjid al-Haram, la Mecca. L'uso di motivi naturali come piante, frutti e nuvole si fa strada nelle arti locali come i tessuti. Sono inoltre presenti esempi di intaglio del legno, artigianato in metallo e disegni kris. Dove le influenze cinesi e islamiche si fondono per produrre alcune opere d'arte squisita tra cui cloisonné e pergamene calligrafiche. Sono esposte collezioni di costumi completi provenienti da tutto il mondo islamico, oltre a raffinati rivestimenti e tappeti.
ISTANA NEGARA (PALAZZO NAZIONALE) Istana Negara o il Palazzo Nazionale è la residenza ufficiale del re della Malesia. Questo maestoso edificio a Jalan Duta divenne ufficialmente il Palazzo Nazionale nel 2011, sostituendo il vecchio palazzo di Jalan Istana. Coprendo 97,65 ettari, il palazzo vanta un design tradizionale malese con opere d'arte islamica che sono state create da famosi scultori di Terengganu e Kelantan. Il palazzo è abbellito da 22 cupole, con il più grande in piedi a 44 metri di altezza.
Ora iniziamo un tour gratuito della città per TUGU NEGARA (MONUMENTO NAZIONALE), SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING, ISTANA NEGARA (PALAZZO NAZIONALE) e DATARAN MERDEKA (PIAZZA MERDEKA). TUGU NEGARA (MONUMENTO NAZIONALE) Affacciato sui giardini del lago KL, l'enorme monumento in bronzo fu costruito per rendere omaggio ai soldati che diedero la vita per difendere il paese durante l'insurrezione comunista degli anni '50. Il monumento nazionale è stato progettato da Felix de Weldon, l'architetto del famoso memoriale di Iwo Jima
SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING Sultan Abdul Samad Costruire nel 1897, una delle attrazioni più durevoli della città, si dice che l'edificio sia stato il più raffinato negli stati malesi. Presenta un portico imponente, graziosi archi a ferro di cavallo, cupole in rame lucido e una torre dell'orologio di 41,2 metri. Il piano terra di questo edificio ospita un centro di informazione turistica.
DATARAN MERDEKA (PIAZZA MERDEKA) Dataran Merdeka è uno dei più importanti siti storici della città. L'Union Jack fu abbassato per contrassegnare l'indipendenza del paese dal dominio coloniale. Da qui il nome dataran Merdeka, che significa "Piazza dell'Indipendenza". La fine del tour ritorna al tuo hotel in un veicolo con aria condizionata.

Truly a nice museum very modern and well organized. It is located in a very large building, on three floors and houses a very rich collection ranging from ancient books of the Koran to ceramics, jewelry, textiles and swords. Visiting it is also highly recommended to form an opinion on Islamic culture and art

In fact, I find it even more compelling than the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, which is an impressive museum in its own right. After exploring the museum, don’t miss the treasure trove that awaits you downstairs. The museum’s shop is truly a “cave of wonders,” filled with exquisite pieces that reflect the beauty and craftsmanship of Islamic art. Whether you’re looking for unique souvenirs, beautifully crafted textiles, or intricate jewelry, the shop offers an array of items that are as inspiring as the museum itself. If only this museum could be itinerant, allowing more people around the world to experience its treasures and the profound peace it inspires. This museum is fabulous, it avoids the political positions of current debates on Islam. Lots to learn in this extremely clean and functional museum. Lots of factual elements from the shapes of mosques to outfits and holy books (Quran)..I learned a lot
Aris was an excellent tour guide and he provided enjoyable experiences at the Islamic Arts Museum, National Monument and Palace, and Merdaka Square. He gave us many recommendations on food and other places to visit, was well versed in all things Malaysia. He was thoughtful, enjoyable to be around, engaged, answered and asked questions, took many pictures and provided us with some value adds; water bottles, took some videos and shared back the photo's. On a scale of 1 - 10, we felt it was a solid 10. Definitely recommend Aris if you need a personal guide!
