Alfama non è solo uno dei quartieri più antichi e pittoreschi di Lisbona, ma è stato anche uno dei pochi quartieri, che non è stato distrutto nel terremoto del 1755. E così, la città ha ancora mantenuto il suo caratteristico fascino familiare. Infatti, il nome di questo quartiere deriva dall’arabo ‘Al-hamma’ che significa ‘fontane calde’ o ‘bagni’. Decorati in splendidi "azulejos", i ripidi vicoli tortuosi di questo quartiere lasciano il posto a viste mozzafiato su un mare di tetti di terracotta e sul fiume Tago. Gli aromi della cucina tradizionale Portoghese, gli echi delle melodie del Fado e le chiacchiere degli anziani Portoghesi, rendono questo quartiere uno dei più autentici di Lisbona! Il nostro tour inizia a Rossio e passa alcune aree chiave prima di dirigersi nel cuore di Alfama dove farai anche una sosta al Miradouro Portas do Sol, prima di terminare il tour alla cattedrale.

El Castillo de San Jorge è un castello storico della capitale portoghese di Lisbona, situato nella parrocchia di Santa Maria Maior. L'occupazione umana della collina del castello risale almeno all'VIII a.C. C., anche se le prime fortificazioni costruite risalgono al I secolo a.C.

Jack was a superb guide, albeit a bit shaky on guitar legends from his hometown. He started with a very helpful introduction and went on from there to cover just about everything we wanted to know in 2.5 hours. It was a long hot climb but the stop for the excellent pastel de nata and the benelyn like ginga were well judged. We got a lot out of it. We followed up on several of his suggestions and they worked
