La posizione di Maungauika all'ingresso del porto di Waitematā ne fece un'importante difesa costiera. Furono i timori di un'invasione russa nel 1880 che portarono alla costruzione di un forte e alla scomparsa delle tre batterie di cannoni disseminate lungo il maunga (montagna).
Mount Eden è il vulcano più alto tra i 52 vulcani di Auckland. È alto 196 metri. Dalla cima si può godere di una vista spettacolare della città e dei suoi porti.
Il Cornwall Park è il più grande parco vulcanico di Auckland. Anche un altro parco si trova all'interno del Cornwall Park che è "One Tree Hill" Ci sono molti alberi e animali in questo parco. Puoi sentire la grande natura all'interno del centro città.
La Cattedrale della Santissima Trinità è l'unico esempio architettonico al mondo di una cattedrale gotica del Pacifico. Puoi provare un senso di grandezza e bellezza allo stesso tempo. Inoltre puoi vedere la chiesa di Santa Maria che è composta quasi esclusivamente dal cuore Kauri, un legno originario della Nuova Zelanda, ed è una delle poche chiese in legno al mondo costruite in stile gotico.

This is actually a review of the half-day tour (see below). Well organized. It includes the highlights that you want to see when you have a short time in Auckland. Tour guide Sean was great. Friendly, accommodating, informative. We booked the full day tour, but the only difference was that was to it include a trip to the War Memorial Museum (ticket NOT included). But the vast majority of the museum happened to be closed that day. But the tour company reimbursed the difference (not including the Viator commission). Kudos to them.

Our guide was amazing! She was punctual & courteous and guided as through the most amazing highlights with great knowledge of each one of them. All of it was just breathtakingly beautiful. The history of Mount Eden & One Tree Hill was very interesting. Our final stop was at the Kew Gardens showcasing a Winter Garden, the Temperate House and the Fernery. We couldn’t have asked for more. The tour was accompanied by a great guide. We never had time pressure and a lot was explained. All described points were approached. There were only two of us on the road with the guide. Finally there was a slideshow of the pictures he took with us, via WhatsApp. Really great!!

Had a blast going around with Lenna, our tour guide, who brought us all around Auckland. She was lovely and when the weather turned bad, she did everything she could to make it comfortable for us. Her charm and humour truly got to us both. She was very knowledgeable about the city, shared her own anecdotes and her own experiences with the city. Highly recommended for those who are looking to get to best bits of Auckland in a relatively quick fashion.
