La nostra prima tappa è la chiesa di Jvari, una delle chiese più antiche della Georgia. Il nome della chiesa è tradotto come "croce". La chiesa si affaccia su magnifiche viste sull'antica capitale Mtskheta e sulla confluenza di due fiumi (Aragvi e Mtkvari). La chiesa di Jvari è elencata come sito del patrimonio mondiale dall'UNESCO, insieme ad altre strutture storiche a Mtshketa. Jvari è il luogo perfetto per coloro che desiderano viaggiare indietro nel tempo e godersi l'architettura del Medioevo.
La nostra ultima tappa è Mtskheta, l'antica capitale di Kartli, il regno della Georgia orientale dal 3° secolo a.C. al 5° secolo d.C., ed era anche il luogo in cui il cristianesimo fu proclamato religione ufficiale della Georgia nel 337. Giorgio was very accommodating and friendly, we visited Jvari and Mtskheta as well as a third cathedral. He was patient and we could spend enough time in the town of Mtskheta.

It was my first time to visit Georgia and my first tour. We only had a few days stopover in Tbilisi and wanted a short tour from the city to the main highlights. This tour is a great way to see the Caucus Mountains. The guide Catherine was excellent and very eager to speak with us all. The sites we visited were well curated, hitting all of the highlights around Kazbegi. Lots of car travel is required, but it’s coupled with adequate stops and chances to walk around.
