Very informative, Rosa was a wonderful guide, she was very knowledgeable about the city and its history. We had a wonderful time the tour was very personal like being shown around by a friend!

Piazza Della Repubblica
È una delle piazze più grandi di Firenze e il cuore della città fin dall'epoca romana. Al centro della piazza si trova la Colonna dell’Abbondanza, l’ombelico della città, simbolo del punto di incontro delle principali vie dell’antica città romana, il Cardo e il Decumano. La piazza ospita ancora oggi alcuni dei negozi e locali più ricercati di Firenze, come le "Giubbe Rosse", luogo di ritrovo, da tempo immemorabile, di uomini di lettere e intellettuali.
Piazza della Signoria
L’area oggi occupata da Piazza della Signoria è sempre stata molto importante per la città. Durante il Medioevo, nella zona furono costruiti un battistero, una basilica paleocristiana e, dove oggi sorge Palazzo Vecchio, un edificio adibito a carcere. Nel X secolo, mentre grandi torri venivano erette in tutta la città, i vecchi edifici furono demoliti per recuperare le loro pietre o incorporati in nuove costruzioni. Nella zona di Piazza della Signoria, il Palazzo dei Priori fu costruito vicino alle torri della famiglia ghibellina Uberti. Oggi, nella splendida Piazza, è possibile ammirare, oltre a Palazzo della Signoria, numerose statue legate agli eventi più importanti della città di Firenze;
Ponte Vecchio
È il più antico e famoso dei ponti di Firenze. Attraversa l'Arno nel suo punto più stretto e in questa zona, già nel I secolo, i Romani avevano costruito un ponte in legno. Nel 1565 l'architetto Giorgio Vasari, per ordine di Cosimo I, fece costruire il "Corridoio Vasariano". Il meraviglioso Corridoio, costruito in soli cinque mesi, è una struttura sopraelevata, lunga circa un chilometro, che collega Palazzo Vecchio, centro politico della città con Palazzo Pitti, all’epoca residenza dei Medici, passando per la Galleria degli Uffizi, il Lungarno Archibusieri, le botteghe sul lato orientale del Ponte Vecchio e girando intorno alla sommità della torre Mannelli.

The Happy Accident
A very Happy Accident is the best way I can describe our tour with Rosa. Our travel agent seriously goofed. He promised stuff that wasn’t included and set us off for a very redundant tour that we had already taken earlier in the day. Rosa didn’t miss a beat after the discovery of our agents mistake. She simply asked, “what do you people really want to do?” Florence was the first stop on our journey and this was our second evening there. I looked at her and asked her to show us how the people (not the tourists) of Florence eat and entertain themselves. That’s where the fun began! We went to shops, cafe’s, and restaurants. We met her friends, had drinks, and excellent food. I felt like I belonged in Florence. I made friendships with people I would love to meet again. It was the single greatest experience I had in my five country European tour and Rosa was simply exceptional! Do yourself a favor, on your first evening in a new city, take a food tour a few blocks away from the tourist zones.
