Great day. Paulo was wonderful. Easy to understand, knowledgeable, entertaining. Great personality and sense of humor. We learned so much about Mt Etna and the surrounding area. Thank you!
Knowledgeable and friendly guide. Unfortunately, there was no communication about how the delays that occurred during the day would affect the itinerary. As a result, we reached the Silvestri Craters when it was too dark to see anything, and we did not get to visit Valle del Bove or the 1991/93 lava flows at all. Instead, despite traffic congestion in Zafferana, the company prioritized a stop at a tourist-oriented wine and honey producer – a decision that worsened the delays and caused the above mentioned main highlights of the tour to be lost. When we raised these points with the management, they showed no understanding whatsoever. If you prefer a company that prioritizes the stops they profit from - choose this one. If you prefer a company that prioritizes its customers’ experience and the unique stops on the Etna - look elsewhere.
Dear Anna, We’re sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. Unfortunately, the delays that day were caused by external factors beyond our control, such as heavy traffic on Mount Etna and in the Zafferana area. Our guides still ensured the main stops were covered as much as possible given the conditions. The visit to the local producer is a regular part of the itinerary, included to offer a complete cultural and gastronomic experience, not for commercial reasons. We understand your disappointment about the schedule changes, but we’d like to clarify that the decisions made on site were always aimed at ensuring both safety and the overall quality of the excursion. The trip was about five hours which was perfect for us. The tour guide was on time and started the tour promptly. Our first stop was a little place where we tasted some honey and wine. I did not expect this, but I was very happy about it. Then we stopped at an overlook where the guide explained many things about Mt. Etna. It was very informative and interesting. Then we went to our next stop and went into a lava tube/cavern. That was really awesome. I also didn’t know that was part of the tour, so again, pleasantly surprised. Our final stop was higher up as the sun set. We walked around and took some great photos. It was beautiful. This is the only tour my husband said he would do again. I highly recommend going to Mt. Etna; it shouldn’t be missed. Also, we had only eight people in our group, and they were all amazing! Our guide, Paulo, was professional, informative, and funny. I like him very much.
I do not feel like giving a very high rating because for what I was offered I do not justify the price. We left with a slightly dated vehicle in which the air conditioning did not work (although among the things included it was clearly stated) and being August and having to make a nice trip in nine people this created a bit of discomfort. The tour was done almost entirely in English despite being six Italians, the guy who guided us was kind to ask me to interrupt it if I didn’t understand something, but I think he should still have done the explanation in Italian by himself without having to request it every time as it’s easy to lose some words not being my language and having paid for an Italian tour. Also I expected something more from the experience in general, maybe a walk instead we were just driven from side to side. However the craters are beautiful as well as the panorama and the lava flow cave. But at 60€ per person I think I wouldn't do it again.

Per quanto riguarda la lingua, le nostre guide si impegnano a fornire spiegazioni sia in italiano che in inglese, e ci rincresce se la parte in italiano non è stata sufficiente: il suo feedback sarà utile per migliorare. Il nostro itinerario prevede diversi spostamenti in punti panoramici e vulcanici che sarebbe impossibile raggiungere tutti senza l’ausilio di un veicolo; per questo l’utilizzo dei mezzi è parte integrante del tour. Prenderemo comunque in considerazione la sua osservazione riguardo al desiderio di una passeggiata più lunga. Siamo felici che abbia apprezzato la bellezza dei crateri e della grotta lavica, e speriamo di poterla accogliere nuovamente in futuro offrendole un’esperienza migliore. Cordiali saluti,
Sylvia, our guide, was very nice and personable. Recommendation is to bring warm clothes to wear when you get to a higher elevation. We were unaware, did not, and it was quite cold and windy (meanwhile it was 90°f+ back down in Catania). Fortunately, Sylvia had an extra pullover my wife was able to borrow from her. The cave was cool. Couple of recommendations for the tour operator…(1) please add to your Viator listing or email you send out to customers recommending they bring warm clothes, and (2) maybe stop at one of the wineries Sylvia mention rather than that store. Could make for a fun experience.
An unforgettable experience! The lunar landscape at sunset is simply stunning. Our guide Paolo was fantastic – passionate, full of personal stories, and made the volcano come alive. The tour was smooth, family-friendly, and well organized (transport included!). Only tiny suggestion: a little glass during the tasting would’ve been the cherry on top 🍷😉 Highly recommended, especially in summer – the cool mountain air is a treat!
We had the pleasure of participating in this excursion in July. Right from the start, we were treated very well. They answered our questions promptly and helped us in many ways. We took part in the hike with two small girls, 3 and 5 years old. Activity suitable for everyone. You can get to 1,900 meters without making too much effort. We visited the caves, we saw beautiful views. We did the tasting of local products. The Silvia guide is very prepared, kind and polite. A wonderful experience. We're so happy we made it. Highly recommended and definitely to the next trip to Sicily, we will rely on them again
Excellent moment of discovery of Etna in air-conditioned vehicle with Silvia, super guide who took care of us. In addition to visiting exceptional corners from several high viewpoints but also visiting caves, we really got a guided tour from Catania exit to Mount Etna on history, culture, geology, fauna, flora and vulcanology. Silvia is very pedagogical and knows the area perfectly, she was born here, it changes everything. Excellent discovery , and unforgettable moments of strolling on the craters of Etna. Go ahead with your eyes closed.
Our guide Selia was great. It was a very interesting tour. We learned a lot about Etna. Particularly impressive are the caves and the expert explanations for them. The hike around the crater Silvestri was very nice. You could take great pictures. The tour is really worth it. Depending on the weather, you should bring warm jackets for the Etna, as it is cold in the evening. The sunset was fantastic. Absolutely worth it! Thanks Selia for the lovely time!
I went on this trip in October and it did not disappoint! Our guide was so friendly and informative! The wine tasting on the way up was also so good! I would highly recommend doing this tour if you come to Sicily!
