N.B. IL BIGLIETTO DELLA FUNIVIA E DEL 4X4 DEVE ESSERE PAGATO AL PUNTO D'INCONTRO, 45 € A PERSONA IN CONTANTI PER ACCELERARE IL CHECK-IN, GRAZIE. Un'escursione indimenticabile: salita in Funivia e Bus 4x4 fino a 2850m. Da qui inizia il percorso a piedi, una tappa affascinante sarà quella su alcuni crateri spenti, bocche eruttive e fratture laviche. Si continuerà fino ai crateri Barbagallo a 3000 metri. Da qui si potranno osservare i maestosi Crateri Sommitali Si visiterà la bocca effusiva dell'eruzione del 2002 e da qui si scenderà lungo dei sabbioni fino alla Montagnola da dove si osserverà la Valle del Bove, una grande depressione vulcano – tettonica. Panorama mozzafiato che altri pochi posti al mondo riescono a trasmettere. Il rientro a piedi in Funivia permette di dare un ultimo sguardo a questo incantevole paesaggio lunare, per circa 4 ore di cammino totali

Itinerario
Si parte dalla baita delle Guide Alpine Etna Sud, si prosegue in funivia fino a 2500 metri e dopo con un fuoristrada si arriva a 2850 metri.
La prima tappa sarà il belvedere della Valle del Bove, una grande depressione vulcano – tettonica a forma di ferro di cavallo che si trova nel settore orientale dell’Etna, essa è molto importante dal punto di vista vulcanologico in quanto lungo le pareti affiorano svariati. Nelle belle giornate la vista è emozionante.
Una tappa molto importante è il cratere Barbagallo quota 3000 metri circa. Risalendo lungo dei sabbioni si giungerà presso un canale di scorrimento lavico risalente all'eruzione del 2002. Risalendo lungo il canale arriveremo alla bocca effusiva della stessa eruzione. si proseguirà verso Torre del Filosofo (2920 metri) costeggiando le recenti colate laviche ancora calde (21-05-2023). Dopo la pausa pranzo si percorrerà il bordo del cratere Barbagallo ammirando i Crateri Sommitali e tutta la costa orientale della Sicilia, da Taormina fino a Siracusa.
Finita la passeggiata sul l'orlo del cratere Barbagallo, prima di iniziare la discesa, avremmo modo ancora una volta, di ammirare i crateri sommatali dell'Etna, Cratere Centrale e Cratere di Sud-Est, con il loro immancabile pennacchio di gas.
Il rientro in funivia avverrà percorrendo dei canali di sabbia vulcanica, ammirando, nelle belle giornate, una vista mozzafiato, che spazia dalla riviera ionica sino all’interno della Sicilia.

The trek was hard for me, a couch potato, but I did it. If I could do it, you can too lol. I told my guide I was giving up and he let me rest a little and convinced me to keep going. Good hiking boots and trekking poles are a must.
An experience you cannot really put into words. The landscape is otherworldly and the emotions you experience under an active volcano are one of a kind. Because of the ongoing eruption and the sudden bad weather, we couldn’t complete the whole tour, but thankfully Clara, our wonderful guide, made sure we got the most of the experience. She was sweet, competent and attentive, and made you curious and passionate about the volcano just like an excellent teacher would do. Will definitely come back for another experience. Amazing experience hiking up around the crater field to the rumbling of the current eruption. Very knowledgable and friendly guide. Def need a degree of fitness and be prepared to come home with volcanic ash/sand everywhere! Would recommend, we loved it

Perfect excursion. The guides are very good. Important: glasses and something to cover your mouth if the volcano is active and bring something to eat for the quick stop on the excursion.

An absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience! Our Etna tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. It was a wonderful experience, especially thanks to our guide, Clara, who accompanied us, making us have fun and experience every stage up to 3000m with enthusiasm.
