Il monte Takao è il punto di arrampicata più popolare nella zona di Kanto, situato a circa 50 chilometri a ovest del centro della città. È una montagna meravigliosa che è stata inclusa nella Guida Verde Michelin Giappone nel 2007, insieme al Monte Fuji. Parte del Parco Quasi-Nazionale Meiji no Mori Takao, offre piacevoli escursioni in montagna adatte anche per una gita di un giorno. La montagna è stata particolarmente importante per i Giapponesi dal 744, quando l'imperatore Shomu comandò la creazione di Yakushiji, un famoso tempio, incoraggiando i seguaci a visitarlo. Conosciuto come uno dei migliori punti panoramici di Tokyo, il ponte panoramico offre una vista panoramica sulla Pianura di Kanto, con grattacieli in lontananza. I sentieri variano in difficoltà da escursionisti facili a esperti, quindi fai sapere alla tua guida cosa preferisci. Durante la salita, la guida offrirà spiegazioni sulla fauna selvatica che incontrerai, sui panorami e sui santuari e sulle statue budhisti e shintoisti che vedrai lungo il percorso. In qualsiasi punto del percorso è possibile fermarsi per riprendere fiato, oppure per fare uno spuntino e un drink.
Scendere la montagna sia a piedi che in funivia o seggiovia (la seggiovia non ha barra di sicurezza quindi preparatevi a tenere duro!). Poi rilassa i muscoli stanchi in una rilassante sorgente termale. Provate le piscine stagionali come il rosa "sakura Bath", così come diverse piscine calde all'aperto. Se hai tempo dopo l'onsen, la Guida ti mostrerà la città. Si possono vedere tutti i vecchi negozi nostalgici. Siete pregati di notare che la persona con tatuaggi non è autorizzata a fare il bagno nelle sorgenti termali.
Con i suoi 599 metri di altezza, il monte Takao non è particolarmente alto, tuttavia è pieno di flora e fauna abbondanti e coperto di sentieri escursionistici, sia sentieri cementati accessibili che sentieri sterrati selvaggi lontani dai sentieri battuti. Per prima cosa raggiungerete a piedi il Museo Takao 599 dove potrete conoscere le piante e gli animali che abitano questa montagna. It is a hike to get up to the top, but the hard work is worth it, the views are jaw dropping. Our guide, Terry, was so fun and made the day incredibly memorable. This was one of the highlights of our Japan trip.

I had a really lovely day; it was a busy day, as it was a public holiday, but the weather was perfect so we had a spectacular view of Mount Fuji, from the summit of Mount Takosan. Keita, my guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating; we went to the monkey park instead of the Onsen, and he took me to the fire ceremony in the temple. A very nice hike up Mt Takosan, visiting a temple and participating in a fire ceremony on the way to the top. It was beautiful day so I had a spectacular view of Mt Fuji that was so much better than expected. My guide was brilliant, very friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable. Definitely a trip worth doing!

Yuki was an excellent hike guide. She tailored the hike to our preferences (slightly harder route), and taught us a lot about the flora, Japanese religions, culture and customs along the way. Would recommend to anyone, as the hike can also be made easier with different route choices.

Our hike up Mount Takao with Maki was a fantastic experience. She was incredibly informative about the different routes to the summit and helped us choose the best one for us. We had a great time with our guide Maki :) It was nice to get out of the hustle of the city and appreciate Japan's beautiful scenery. The itinerary was paced well and gave lots of time to enjoy the different attractions. Maki made sure we had time to rest and appreciate the views throughout the hike and she gave us some interesting information about the Yakuouin temple and the practices there. She made sure we were well taken care of even when the onsen was closed unexpectedly :)

Mt Takao your was amazing. We choose to do the nature tour which was really worth it then cable car back down. K who was our guide was full of knowledge, English speaking was great also made the tour very relaxing. Really nice sitting for lunch and talking more. It’s a must do… 👍

Keita made the very strenuous excursion very good he was e extremely patience with us - the views we got when reaching the summit were amazing - the extreme climb walking up to it was challenging but we did it / Keita took time to tell Us the history of it all as we went along - we were lucky to see the religious ceremony at the Tenple which we thoroughly enjoyed - our lunch together was great - Then Keita es ported us back to our Hotel - we wish him all the best with his Tourist Guiding and would highly recommend him to our friends
