We spent about 90 minutes going through the palace today. It was great to get a glimpse of how the royal family lived and the artifacts and furnishings they collected. Some of the paintings were amazing. We then jumped next door and toured the Treasury. This is a separate ticket but easy to buy there. This is a building where the royal family stored gold, jewelry and other things of value. We spent about an hour going through here. The diamonds, gold, silver and the items they were layered into was breathtaking. So many great pieces to see with a bit of history and background. Make sure you get on their WiFi and scan the web page to help you w an audio tour. The audio tool was informative, but unfortunately didn’t work very well for us. But I would highly suggest you tour both the palace and the treasury if you go.

The tour takes us back in time. Lots of history but have to stop and read. Audio tour not included. Better if you knew the Portuguese history a bit, to build on the details. Seeing the majestic dining room seating capacity of 180 was incredible.

This is a great off-the-beaten-path place to visit. Not crowded at all. The description states that it is an audio tour; however, no headsets are available. If headsets were available, the experience would significantly improve. Still worth the visit without.

Highlight was seeing the Royal Treasury, in particular the connection between Dom Luis I and Hawai'i King Kalakaua. The two monarchs exchanged royal orders during Kalakaua's trip around the world in 1881. The lowlight was the QR code to the Palace wouldn't scan, something the manager said has happened with numerous visitors. Had to buy another entry to Ajuda. Also thought I'd be getting the audio tour for the Palace instead of the general Lisbon tour.

This tour was misleading. When I read and booked it, i was under the impression I was getting an audio tour for the royal palace. However that is not the case. The audio tour is a walking tour of the city of lisbon. The royal palace does not have a audio tour. You walk from room to room reading the signs. Its still worth going to the palace. But a misleading description to me.
