Rui was friendly and gave us cultural and historical tidbits while clearly communicating what we would be doing, while still providing elements of surprise. There were a nice variety if activities that were well-timed. The van was comfortable.
Our guide was Rui. He made the experience fun and we learned a lot about Douro Valley. Totally recommend the small group tour. I believe max is 8 but we had 6 in our group. The whole experience is so much better than a big group tour. We started with a scenic view point, not much people there so we were able to get great pictures. After, we went on a cruise, we had another small group joined us, total 9 people on the boat. It was 45 minutes with a very refreshing drink and snacks. It was nice and relaxing with great views. Next we went to a mid size vineyard. Very educational and the wine tasting was outdoors with a great view of the valley. After the vineyard, we stopped by another amazing viewpoint for more pictures and ended the day with an amazing outdoor lunch with wine tasting as well. Overall it was a perfect day. Again, totally recommend this tour and if you get Rui as guide, you are in good hands!
Great day and great crowd and fantastic guide with Rui!
The tour of the Douro Valley was spectacular, the transportation, not so much. It was a small group of 8 and they crammed us in an 8 person minivan for a 2 hour drive. My wife and I were stuck in the front seat next to the driver and weren't able to fasten our seatbelts - extremely unsafe. The tour was wonderful and David, our guide, did a nice job trying to rearrange seating for the ride back, but he shouldn't have had to. The vehicle should have been a sprinter van, at a minimum. The drive was uncomfortable and the safety risk was unacceptable.
David is an excellent, friendly guide and driver. He’s extremely knowledgeable, personable, and easy to converse with. He made the experience enjoyable and comfortable, and we truly appreciated his insight and professionalism. Highly recommend David!
Fabulous excursion. Very comfortable, Mercedes van. The driver was incredibly friendly and informative. The Douro River valley is spectacular and this tour was a fun way to meet people from other parts of the world. The boat ride on the Douro River included wine, snacks and and entertaining, "pirate" host commentary. The Foz family winery was beautiful and the wine tasting was exceptional... we're shipping two wine varieties and olive oil back home! Our last stop included an amazing alfresco lunch with more delicious wines and incredible food. This is a "not to be missed" tour!
Amazing your and the limited number of guests made it intimate and friendly. We had a great time meeting fold from all over and sharing the beautiful day. David our tour guide was friendly, funny and informative. Wineries were great to visit and the private boat ride made this even more worth it. Just 8 of us, sipping porto, having tapas and admiring the landscape. Lunch was thoughtful planned, home cooked and delicious. I'd recommend this tour and company to anyone searching for a day trip to Doumo Valley...best part...the nap on the car ride home after all that wine. Now we are refreshed and ready for the rest of the evening.
Our guide David was great! Lots of drinking and the scenery was beautiful. Especially like the boat ride. Highly recommend
We had a great day with David! He drove us to many beautiful sights in the Douro Valley. We had lots of wine, port and lunch was delicious! Great tour - not to be missed! Get David too!!
Our Douro Valley experience was truly one of the highlights of our family trip to Portugal. The scenery, wineries, lunch, and private river cruise were incredible, but Nuno made the day especially memorable. He was warm, thoughtful, professional, and took wonderful care of our family of eight from beginning to end. It genuinely felt like we were exploring the Douro with a local friend rather than simply having a chauffeur. Thank you, Nuno, for an unforgettable day. Our family will remember it for years to come.
