Highly recommended tour!🤩

We were picked up at our hotel by our tour guide Olivier. He took us to the fetish market, the slave house in Agbodrafo, Togoville and the beach in Aneho. Very nice and competent guide who explained everything to us as best he could, in English or got us a local guide at the fetish market and in Togoville. Especially the Slavenhaus was impressive considering how many people were accommodated there. The trip to Togoville in a small boat was also very interesting and instructive.(It is best to put on short trousers and slippers, as you have to wade through almost knee-deep water when getting on and off the boat.) It was a very nice day! Highly recommended!

Risposta dell'operatore

Togo’s history in a nutshell

Very informative tour covering a lot of the history of modern Togo. We visited an old albe house, the old capital of Togo founded by the Germans, and Aneho, where we had a nice lunch in a great spot by the beach.

Private Day Trip

Private tour. The driver will pass you off to local guides at each stop. The guides, along with the driver, have varying levels of English but that is to be expected. Expensive for what you get but a good day.

Risposta dell'operatore

We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the day and that the private tour met your expectations overall. Working with local guides at each stop is part of our approach to ensure authentic, on-the-ground knowledge and to support local communities. Car Broke Down

We enjoyed the tour up until the car broke down on the return trip. We waited by the side of the road for nearly a hour waiting for the mechanic to come and fix, then we arranged our own ride back to town with other tourists (because it was nearing sunset and we were still an hour outside of Lome). I believe the touring company is responsible for safe and reliable transportation - especially at these prices.

Risposta dell'operatore

Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience with us. We are truly grateful to hear that you enjoyed the tour, as delivering a memorable and enjoyable experience is our highest priority. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the breakdown on the return trip. Please know that safety and reliable transportation are of the utmost importance to us. Although the vehicle was regularly maintained, the issue with the cable was an unexpected and rare occurrence that unfortunately couldn't be detected in advance. Mechanical issues like these can sometimes be difficult to predict, especially when the malfunctioning part isn't easily visible. As you mentioned, the driver acted quickly to address the situation, and we were able to resolve the issue in a short amount of time. We genuinely prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests, and while we could have arranged alternative transportation, we felt the vehicle could be fixed quickly to minimize your wait. However, it seems you opted to find an alternative on your own, with the intention of requesting a refund. If we had denied you the option to find another car, it might have resulted in a more negative review than the one you have provided. At times, all it takes is a bit of patience and trust in your guide or tour company. Life brings unexpected moments, and we believe that everything happens for a reason, possibly to avert something worse down the road. We are glad to hear that you still had a great time on the whole tour, and we appreciate your thoughtful feedback. Thank you again, and we wish you all the best in your future adventures!

Save this money and find other option to visit Togo

Rather average experience. Guide did not tell any stories, everything is based on local guides at visited places. Voodoo market is total fake with one of sellers telling about things they sell there. It stinks there. The guide inflated my lunch check. The total experience was 4 hours and not full day

Risposta dell'operatore

Thank you for your feedback. However, I believe there may have been some misunderstanding during your tour. From our perspective, you seemed more focused on wasting time to get to your flight rather than engaging with the experience. If you had shown more interest, you might have appreciated the authenticity of the Voodoo market, which is not fake as mentioned. Your attitude toward the market and the tour overall seemed nonchalant, and it was noticeable to the guide. The tour was designed to be a full day, but it seems your desire to leave early and get back to the airport impacted the overall duration of your time with us. Back to Lomé your guide even suggested to do a city tour with you since he noticed you were not interested in anything you also refused. We always provide the best to our guests and are proud to have most of them interested in our tours. We appreciate your feedback, and we’ll work to improve in the future.

Experience the religion of Togo in Togoville

It was a wonderful experience of Lake Togo. I went alone and the guide was flexible. Communication was smooth and helpful. The religious experience in Togoville is special.

Nice tour

We arrived via cruise ship. We were picked up at the port as agreed. The tour took us to all the places as described. Our guide spoke good English but he was a bit reserved, maybe somewhat disinterested as the day went on. There was a local guide at each of the stops who explained what we were seeing. There was an expectation of a tip for each of these guides. Of course, tipping was optional. Some in the group tipped, others didn't. We stopped at a restaurant where there was a buffet lunch (our own expense). We asked to go someplace for a beer and a snack instead, which we did. I have to warn that the fetish market might be offensive to some people. There are tables with animal heads and other parts lined up as this is all part of voodoo rituals.

Risposta dell'operatore

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback! We are so glad to hear that the tour took you to all the key locations as described, and that you were able to enjoy the informative stops with the local guides. We always aim to ensure that our guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience. We also appreciate your feedback about the guide. Sometimes, our guides can appear more reserved if they sense that guests prefer a quieter experience, focusing on the sights and taking photos rather than engaging in conversation, but rest assured, they are always committed to providing a thorough and informative experience. Regarding the tipping, we want to assure you that it is always completely optional. While some of our guests choose to offer tips to the local guides as a way to show appreciation for their time and knowledge, it is important to note that there is absolutely no obligation to do so. We believe that tipping should always come from the heart and based on your own experience, and we understand that everyone has different preferences and circumstances. Our guides are dedicated to providing a great experience, and any gesture of gratitude is completely up to each guest. Regarding the fetish market, we understand that it may be a unique experience for some. Our goal is to offer a fascinating glimpse into the local culture and traditions, showcasing aspects that may be different from what people are accustomed to, but always with respect and an open mind. We hope it added a memorable and insightful element to your tour! We are also happy to hear that you were able to adjust your lunch plans to something you enjoyed, even though the buffet lunch was not part of the tour you chose. It is great that you found an option that worked better for you! We hope the rest of the experience was just as enjoyable and memorable. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

2 dead batteries and running out of gas in a poorly maintained vehicle

This tour was not advertised. Private tour meant your party was the only ones in the car but all cars filled with groups from our ship were to travel together. If someone needed to stop we all stopped. This is not a private tour. No WiFi or water was available. Air conditioning was open windows in very poorly maintained vehicles. The battery in our vehicle died at the first stop, the Fetish Market. Another battery was installed. So our driver and guide decided to drive us to Togoville. After about 2 hours we hadn’t arrived but the battery died again because the alternator wasn’t charging the battery. We were in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road. The driver had to wait for a motorbike to come by and give him a ride to the nearest village to get another battery. When he got back he installed the battery. The car started and immediately died again. This time the vehicle was out of gas. Again we had to wait for a motorbike to come by so that the guide could find a taxi to take us back to the ship. We did make it back to the ship before sailing but saw nothing except the Fetish Market. We should receive a refund for this trip because we did not see what was listed as sights we would see. By the way when I finally got WiFi it seems that we were not even on the right road to Togoville. No wonder we just kept driving seeing nothing but one or two little houses once in a while. When the people in the other cars asked where we were, they were told we were having a nice lunch which was not true. What a disappointing tour.

This is a private circuit covering the areas of Agbodrafo, Aneho, and Togoville, which has already been mapped out and cannot be modified. From the beginning, you stated that you were not interested in visiting the Slave House. The circuit started as planned, but once you reached the lake's edge, you refused to cross the lake by pirogue and preferred to take the road to Togoville. However, the circuit specifically required crossing the lake to reach Togoville. The road leading to Togoville is in poor condition, dusty, and filled with potholes, making the journey long (about 50 minutes to an hour), which could damage the vehicles. That’s why we avoid this route. Despite this, in order to satisfy the participants' request, the colleagues agreed to modify the circuit under pressure. It is important to note that the fuel for each vehicle is calculated based on the planned distance, and modifying the itinerary would have negative consequences, such as running out of fuel along the way. After taking the road, and less than a kilometer from Togoville, one of you requested to turn back, likely realizing the mistake of not using the pirogue. He mentioned that he had spinal problems and showed us a medical scan, explaining that when the roads are in poor condition, it causes him pain in his spine. Following his request, the colleagues agreed to turn back. Thus, stating that the circuit was not completed is incorrect. The circuit had specifically planned for the lake crossing, not the use of the damaged road, which ended up damaging our vehicle. We had to rent another vehicle to take them back to the Lomé port, resulting in additional costs for fuel, vehicle rental, and port access.
