We were lucky to have a ceremony for two; we were with a mistress of ceremonies and a translator. We ate a pastry while the mistress of ceremonies prepared the tea, then we prepared our own matcha tea. We were then able to ask questions. The whole thing lasted 45 minutes. It was a timeless experience that I recommend.
Smooth, good reception, educational
This was a really nice and special experience. You could really feel like you were part of that house and family
What a great experience!! The translator was so informative, professional and kind, while the master was so fluid, graceful and put on a wonderful display. If you’re looking for a quality time at a tea ceremony, you’d be hard pressed to find a better experience.
Absolutely lovely, authentic feeling experience. With an English translator and a professor of the tea ceremony, who has been doing it for more than 40 years. Very welcoming.
A great way to get an introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony tradition. An experienced tea master performs a shortened version of the ceremony and a translator interprets what she is doing and then the guests try a fraction of the ceremony. It takes place in a traditional looking tea room.
A thoughtful and intimate traditional tea ceremony. The tea professor was so knowledgeable, and the translator really helped to include us in every aspect of the experience. A great option if you're looking for a quieter version of this classic Kyoto experience.
Incredible experience. I was lucky enough to be the only person at this time slot so it turned pretty much into a private ceremony. The host and her translator were both super nice, everything was explained in great detail. The Tea and the sweets were delicious. It was a super fun and peaceful experience. Probably the highlight of my whole Japan trip. This is absolutely perfect for anyone interested in japanese culture or just wants to experience something very unique. I will do it again when I come back to Japan. Thank you very much for this wonderful memory.
Such a beautiful experience, our interpreter was fantastic and it was such a treat to watch the ceremony, and to then try and make the tea. The sweet treats were delicious and something new! The whole experience was fantastic! Highly recommend, including the bus trip and walk around the little neighbourhood! It was a great adventure!
It was a wonderful experience where we got to learn the history of the tea and the different movements for the ceremony. We even got to practice whisking our own Matcha. It was a cool experience.
