Orlando saved my life during this hike. When I thought I couldn’t hike anymore he was very helpful. He proved me with helpful support and even carried my bag to help me continue the most memorable journey. He was very informative and taught us so much through the temples. I recommend him so much. He is an amazing person and tour guide!!!
Orlando was great! Very informative. I learned so much more on this tour than I knew before. He accommodated to our pace very well and took so many great photos of our group on the site.
Orlando was a great tour guide. He helped our group with some issues since we are very inexperienced hikers. He took the time to make sure we learned the history, got the best pictures and just overall have a great experience. The hike is difficult but Orlando made it an enjoyable and rewarding experience that we will never forget.
We had an incredible experience with Orlando as our guide through Salkantay Trekking, and we could not have asked for a better person to lead our trip. Orlando's knowledge of Peru and Machu Picchu was outstanding. He brought the history and culture to life in a way that made every stop on the tour feel meaningful and memorable. His enthusiasm for sharing information made the experience so much richer than we expected. What really stood out was his patience and attentiveness with our group. When we were moving at a slower pace, he never made anyone feel rushed or uncomfortable. He matched our energy, kept things positive, and made sure everyone felt supported throughout the entire journey. Beyond the tour itself, Orlando went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed, from guiding us to our hotel to giving honest, helpful recommendations for places to eat. He made navigating an unfamiliar place feel effortless. If you are booking with Salkantay Trekking, request Orlando. You will not be disappointed.
Absolutely incredible. The 2 day hike was reasonably priced. We were fortunate to be only the two of us in the group with our guide Pabel. Pabel was incredibly friendly, warm and made us feel like family. He was attentive and was very conscious of our pace. Pabel went out of his way to make us feel like VIP's. Would 100% recommend him as a guide and Salkantay as a whole to anyone looking to explore Machu Pichu. You will get to spend the night in Aguas Calientes and the included dinner at the local restaurant was very good. The following day, we spent the day with Pabel who gave us a tour of Machu Pichu while giving us short lectures on the history of it as we walked. Having an attentive guide like Pabel made the trip very stress-free. He walked us through everything we would do, took care of our included meals, gave us recommendations, took care of park tickets and transportation. The ability to enjoy the excursion without the typical hassles of traveling was a pleasant added bonus. 100% worth it. It made me really want to return to Perú and explore more of it.
We booked our Short Inca Trail with the Salkantay Trek and were truly impressed from start to finish. The organization was smooth throughout – from the initial communication while we were still at home to the on-site logistics, hotel pickup, and return to Cusco. Even our larger luggage was safely stored in between, which made things very convenient. A big highlight was our guide, Sergio. He was incredibly knowledgeable, relaxed, and created a great atmosphere from the beginning. Sergio shared not only historical facts but also broader insights about Peru, and he always made sure we felt comfortable, adjusted the pace, and had enough time for photos. Thanks to Sergio, we discovered some quieter spots and had a much more personal experience. The trek itself was fantastic. Arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate on the first day was a truly special moment, and the guided tour on the second day added even more depth and understanding. Overall, our expectations were exceeded. It was an unforgettable experience with many lasting memories. We would absolutely recommend this tour – especially if you get the chance to go with Sergio!
The Inca Trail was one of the absolute highlights of our Peru trip for us. We would particularly like to highlight our guide Sergio. With his easy-going manner, his very good English and his humor, he made the tour very special. You could always have a really good conversation with him in English, which we did not experience everywhere in Peru. Sergio brings an incredible amount of experience. He knew exactly where the best photo spots were, both on the road and at Machu Picchu. This gave us photos we would never have taken otherwise. At the same time, he always had his eyes on the group and managed to skilfully lead us past or avoid large groups. Despite the well-attended trail, the hike has felt private, quiet and relaxed. The organization as a whole was also very professional. The lunchbox was surprisingly high-quality and varied. The hotel upgrade in Aguas Calientes was also a very positive surprise. We had a small group, which made the experience extra special. Overall an unforgettable experience with lots of fun and great conversations. We would do another tour with Sergio anytime. 5 out of 5 stars
We went out with Edwin. A very good and pleasant guide. Has a lot of patience and knows how to motivate when participants have a harder time. Has informative stories about the sights along the way and knows how to convey this in a very interesting way. Also the tour of Machu Pichu itself was very fun and interesting. Furthermore, it was all very well arranged in terms of transport, food and overnight stay. Not having to think about anything, which makes it very relaxed.
We did 3 treks with Salkantay trekking during trekking- the 2D/1N short Inca trail, the 7 lakes of Ausangate and the 2D/1N Salkantay and Humantay lake. Each of the treks were incredible on their own. Our guides, Hermo, Broly, Marco and Ruben took good care of us and ensured we enjoyed every minute of our journey. Food was great, almost hard to believe it was cooked in the middle of nowhere. The treks were extremely well organised (not a single minute of delay) and the guides were incredible. Thanks to Salkantay trekking, our Peruvian adventure will be unforgettable.
We had a really good experience with Salkantay Trekking. Everything was really well organised, and our guide, Jimi, was amazing. It’s a solid option if you’re short on time but still want a chance to hike.
