It is an experience that can be enjoyed from the train with great views, beautiful places, but the stops in St. Moritz and Tirano were only minutes long, it is not possible to see much.
Picked up in Milan at 7 am, stopped along the way around 10 am for snacks at a roadside market, stopped for a pic by a beautiful lake for 5 min, arrived in st moritz at 12. Had an hour to explore, boarded train at 1pm. Train had beautiful views. Quick 5 min stop at the glacier for a pic. Arrived in Tirano at 345 and boarded bus at 4 pm. Arrived in Milan at 6:30 ( which was good since there was no traffic). Long day but the sights were worth it. Great guide and driver
The train experience was beautiful! The tour was basically just bus transportation to the train. We dropped off and picked up several people outside the tour. We would have had a much shorter day if we took the train from Central station in Italy !
Quite disappointed with this tour company. This was advertised as a max of 30 people. And we had close to 50. It was advertised as 3 hours in St Moritz. We got 30 minutes. Long enough to get a sandwich at the train station prior to getting in the train. I am not reviewing the Bernina Express train here, because it has nothing to do with this tour company. The tour company provides a means to get to the train from Milan, and back to Milan after the train ride. The tour guide was fine, but certainly not amazing. She apologized for the short stay in St Moritz by telling us that there is often traffic on the weekends and therefore it takes longer to get there from Milan. If this is the case, then they should leave earlier on the weekends. Also, due to traffic, we were running late, yet still stopped 1/2 way to St Moritz for a 30 minute coffee break. Why? Seems silly to me - especially when we were already way behind schedule. We booked this tour so we could see St Moritz and ride the train. Well, we did not get to see St Moritz due to the tour company’s failure to deliver on promises. We were crammed in with 50 people vs the max of 30 that was advertised. We only got 30 minutes in St Moritz vs the 3 hours that was stated in the tour listing. So, disappointing is the description for this review.

Unfortunately, traffic conditions along the route to St. Moritz can vary and cannot be predicted with certainty in advance. Although we carefully plan the itinerary to allow the scheduled time in each destination, unforeseen traffic or other road conditions may occasionally affect the timing despite our best efforts. Regarding the stop along the way, we would like to clarify that this is not an optional coffee break but a necessary stop required for logistical reasons and to comply with the legal regulations governing drivers' working hours and mandatory rest periods. We also apologize if the group size did not match your expectations. We will review the information shown on the booking platform. It is not well organized regarding the meal breaks and places. There were so many people at same place that it was difficult to get a coffee. No time for lunch and /or enjoying the city of StMoritz. Arrived 11:30 and had to be at station at 12:50. Train journey lovely, return to Milano terrible with no stops to use bathroom one tourist had to do in bus in a bag…. Guide not very informed and not properly identified. Nice small group.
Our guide Monica was wonderful. She was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. Furthermore, she helped many of us with transportation questions, reservations, restaurants, etc. She is truly a top notch professional.
This was fantastic! Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us recommendations for restaurants, sight seeing, and souvenir shops at each location. The Bernina Express is a cannot miss experience!

The Bernina Express and St Moritz day tour was AMAZING! With every switchback on road or rail the Swiss Alps and the Italian Pre-Alps never disappointed. It’s sad to see the recession of the glaciers but the beauty still amazes. It was off season in St Moritz so no stars and most shops were closed but it was still a very cool town to walk around.
