Good short activity for young kids. We originally scheduled for the afternoon and they were accommodating in letting us move our time to the morning because of rain. Saw a lot of sloths and also some birds, ants, and tropical plants/fruit. Guide was engaging and really great with the kids. Even had us try some of their chocolate made on site. Only suggestion would be maybe a folding step stool for little kids so they can see through the binoculars easier.
We had such a great time on the sloth watching trail tour! It was honestly amazing getting to see sloths and so many other animals up close in their natural habitat. The trail itself was beautiful, and the whole experience felt really relaxed and enjoyable. Our guide Michael was awesome and definitely made the tour even better. He somehow spotted sloths so easily, that we would’ve walked right past them without him! He was also super funny, friendly, and made the tour really entertaining while still being incredibly informative. You could tell he genuinely knew so much about the sloths, birds, and other wildlife we saw along the way. One of the coolest parts was that he even helped us take pictures and videos with our phones through the spotting scope, and the photos turned out so good. Overall such a fun experience and we learned a lot too. Highly recommend this tour, especially with Michael as your guide!
Visited today with my 14 yr old son. Our tour guide was Michael and he was phenomenal. He was very accommodating as my son and I were the only English speaking guests in our group. He was so knowledgeable and helped take pictures through his telescope. We were able to see about 6 sloths, a poisonous dart frog, a couple of owls and even a Toucan. It was a great experience.
After passing this place twice to go on other excursions we decided to go on our own and glad we did. It was a lovely hour or so I guess. I was on vacation and not very aware of time. Our guide was great and when he got to a sloth spot he set up the telescope so we could all get a look. He even took the time to let us each put our phone up to the telescope to get our own picture. They really don't do much; barely sow them move and only could see one cute face but that's their nature! Saw a few other things but we were there for those cute sloths. A nice gift shop as well.
Such an amazing experience! Our guide Isaac was wonderful and extremely personable! Incredibly glad we chose the guided option versus the self guided tour. We 100% would have struggled to find the sloths and getting to see the wildlife and get photos through the guides scope made it well worth the extra money.
Terrible. Two tours, either with or without a guide. Without a guide ($20 each) you will nothing, just walk around a poorly mapped trail. With a guide ($50 each). They have occasional signs on their trails, but don’t show you where you are at. With a guide you barely see any sloths because they are so high up in the trees, you need binoculars. And they charge you a fee for using a credit card. Not recommended.
We visited on 12th sept at 3pm with a small group of 7 people, the guide Jonny was very knowledgeable and allowed me to use his binoculars. He helped us with videos and photos of the sloths through the telescope and gave us good knowledge of sloths and other wildlife seen. I would thoroughly recommend this tour when in La Fortuna.
We visited for the night tour and daytime sloth tour. Initially there was a mix up with the bus but they responded brilliantly by offering a free night tour as well as another sloth tour the day after. Both tours were great. On the night tour we saw lots of frogs, lizards, insects, a giant caterpillar, spiders and even a couple of sloths - including a baby- moving round. During the sloth tour we saw a family of armadillos and 6 or 7 sloths. Randy was fantastic at spotting sloths and making sure we saw them through his scope and really knew his stuff - he was so enthusiastic it really made the tour. We saw the same baby sloth moving about and a mum and baby 2 toed sloth also moving round.
This was our final stop after a couple days in La Fortuna and it did NOT disappoint. Our guide was Adonay, and he was simply amazing at spotting creatures for us. The highlight for us was getting to witness a mama sloth and her baby come down out of the treetops to use the bathroom (which he informed us only happens once every 5 days or so). In addition, Adonay pointed out two different species of poisonous tree frogs, an iguana, a pair of toucans, a family of 4 baby armadillos, and another 3-4 sloths, which we viewed through his telescope (as they were resting higher up in the tree canopy). Adonay’s English was very good and his knowledge about the animals and landscape was vast. As a bonus, he even harvested a small sugar cane and offered it to us to chew/taste. Very good tour!
Amazing - Steven was unbelievable! His knowledge and sense of humor made this experience even better than we expected. Sloths, Snakes, Tree Frogs, Owls, Birds - and gorgeous flowers. Definitely this is a must stop and see - ask for Steven!
