Arenal Volcano Expeditions Walk 1968

Descrizione

We opted for the Arenal Hike with dinner and a trip to Paradise Hot Springs. The hike was great despite it being a bit misty out. The guide was very intelligent and knew a lot of the history of the region. She was also very personable and fun to chat with. The viewpoint offers some great views of the Arenal volcano and Lake Arenal. The hot springs was a great treat after the hike. Very laid back and relaxing.
It was amazingly good company to travel, the lady who led me through the volcano (her name is Katis) is very good at her job
Our walk was great, and so much depends on the guide. Ours was stunningly well-informed and a great communicator, so we learned loads on the short and clear but steepish path up to volcano lookout point overlooking the 1968 lava flow. And then on the longer but gentler descent we were helped to spot a huge variety of birds, small animals and a couple of monkeys in the distance. Really impressive to spot and identify wildlife so quickly and accurately, be able to point it out (& take quality close-up photos via his spotter scope). An eye-opening introduction to Costa Rican forest wildlife: thank you much:)
The excursion to the volcano is very interesting. We couldn't see the entire volcano because it frequently has cloudy peaks. The climb, although not very long, is hard
As many as 16 reserves form the Conservacion Arenal area and the park, which is well over 10,000 hectares, includes two volcanoes, one is the Arenal, which is mt high. 1643 and his younger brother, Chato, another 1100 mt. Perfect cones that stand out in a clear sky, if you are lucky enough to see them not hooded by fog. The Chato then has a green lagoon to the entire crater sunk. In the pre-Columbian period (when it was considered sacred by the local population) he remained quiet but in July 1968 an earthquake woke him up, decimating the neighboring town of Tabacon, and he continued to perform with small eruptions almost daily for the next 40 years. He has been quiet since 2010, but experts are keeping a close eye on him
Encompassing 30,000 acres, this lush park provides wide pathways to deliver the visitor down to Lake Arenal, where distant views across to Arenal Volcano are optimal. There is an incline on the way back up from the lake and it is HOT! Make certain that you bring water with you, as you will need it. You can make a rest stop at bathrooms located along the path if needed. There is also a viewing platform with stairs; this is a great photo op area for distant Volcano shots. Keep alert as you walk along the dense growth. Lovely flowering plants & animals can be spotted along the way.
The tour guide was an informative, experienced, and fun person to have! My friends and I had a blast getting to know a bit of Costa Rica, even in the rain with the enthusiasm of our tour guide. Would recommend it to other adventurers who'd like to know La Fortuna!
My husband, daughter and I had a private tour on a perfect sunny day. It was a perfect mix of easy walking and rocky climbs to get a good workout. The views of the volcano and lake were gorgeous. We learned about the Viper snake right as I started to get close to one to take a photo. The tour guide encouraged me to move along quickly as she explained that one bite could kill me. We refreshed with treats and beer after the hike then moved on to enjoy the Tabacon Hot Springs. The tour included dinner after the hot springs, and we were given lockers. The dining atmosphere was very nice, and the food was delicious. The activities complimented each other perfectly.
The arena volcano walk was made even better thanks to our guide Antonio who was fantastic. His knowledge of the fauna and the flora that he would share generously was excellent ! We then went to the waterfalls for a dip in the cold water under the tropical rain, an unforgettable experience. After a really lovely lunch we went to the suspended bridge area where we saw all kind of animals and trees. We booked the three tours but they can be done separately. Highly recommended.
It was a very nice walk. Guide Karina and driver Hermes have been very friendly. They even give you water and a snack.
