Booked online…. Military discount… get there and they say we’re not veterans had to have served over 20 years…. Nothing on booking for that…. So don’t buy that option. Second we were under the impression we would be stopping but we stopped at Denali, couldn’t even get off the train. So, it’s mainly a 12 hour slow train ride….
Efficient and comfortable way to get between Denali and Fairbanks. Beautiful scenery and nice narration. If you get the chance, try and upgrade to Gold Star for dinner and a better view. Well worth the extra money.
The trip was stunning, however I need to give Thanks for the Amazing Crew (Chris, Conner and All the Crew) who took such Kind, Compassionate care of Me and my Husband when I broke my ankle on 7.5.2026 in Denali and had to get on a train two hours later. Love You All! Thanks and Blessings - Christine and Roger
Your app is not clear about booking glasstop train car… had to rebook and pay MUCH more. Plus when signing up for your app you booked an extra trip that my bank caught and declined for me. Not a good time for me dealing with you.
This is for the Adventure Class, which means your food options are limited to the self-serve cafe. If you want the Gold Star Class (the fancy restaurant), then this ticket is not for you. After a long day of snack foods, we had hoped we could sit down in a nice car with good food. Alas. We had snack food again. The seats do recline A LOT more than airplane seats!
Trip highlight! Although from Talketna to Fairbanks you’re on the train for nearly 9 hours, the ride was comfortable and scenic. Seats were spacious and highly padded (surprised us). We had the Gold Star service and the meals were exceptional…honestly! Each car had a beverage station and bathrooms were easily accessed and clean. We had front seats in our car. We saw bear, elk, waterfalls, rivers….beautiful scenery. The ability to go outside and breath the fresh Alaskan air was great. The service on the train and in the station was also exceptional.
Great way to see the beautiful landscape of AK. Was able to relax while traveling from Fairbanks to Denali. We were independent travelers (not cruisers) and thought this was really experiencing more than the coast of AK
Great experience!! Great views and good purple on boards. It's great if you have problems walking, your seating taking in all the views and short distance walk.
Great experience you see so much that you can not see by car . Do the upgrade to gold star excellent service and meals. It’s a long ride but it goes by fast .
Not a cruise but a t4ue trip through the heart of Alaska. The train from Anchorage toFairbanks was exceptionally interesting, fun, and enjoyable. the Tour of Danali was fact filled and well done. We picked up a rental car in Fairbanks and picked our way back to Anchorage. Took our time, no crowds, saw what we wanted to see on our terms. Great trip.
