A Taste of Wellington: Wellington Foodie Delights Tour

We like only doing private tours so we can ask alot of questions and go at our own pace and this tour was one of the best international private tours I've ever been. Since booking in advance, Tom confirmed all our booking details and had great communication from the start. Online payment easy, then we were personally picked up at our hotel. Tom was welcoming, kind and very funny. As a NZ Native and expert in all around having a good time it was one of the best days we had on vacation From some stops around the city to see some architecture, got a little out of the touristy area to roast local coffee, lunch at a delicious restaurant, stop at at top of a view point of the city and our favorite, a hidden gem craft brew stop (my husband loved it) there are some more stops along the way but I want YOU to experience those for yourself. We got to know more about Tom and the company throughout the day - they've given tours to people from around the world, groups and private and can curate special requests if you have to make those moments very special. We started as vistors but left as friends. Kaewa Tour's is a 5 star, professional, fun and curated tour we've ever experienced. I without a doubt would highly recommend this tour. Tom Collier was our guide for our time in Wellington. He picked us up from the airport and took us to our hotel pointing out landmarks and offering suggestions for things to do, see and enjoy. After a day on our own, Tom picked us up for a day’s adventure to Martinborough and the wine country. We made several stops along the way including a drive by of parliament, an amazing cheese tasting experience with cheese maker Paul Broughton who provided us with five samples of beautifully presented and crafted cheeses including his award winning Brie. Then we continued on touring a local apple orchard that was bustling with visitors picking apples from acres of beautifully grown and delicious apples. Afterwards we stopped in Greytown for a walk around town before continuing on to Juno Olives, where Helen offered us a walking tour of the property, sampling of her olive oils, and then tastings of her home made chocolate mouse and olive oil cake that she made using her unique blood orange infused olive oil. Juno Olives was a definite plus for us. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Poppies followed by a visit to nearby Haythornthwaite Wines where we sampled six delicious wines in a quaint garden with the proprietor who was incredibly engaging, delightful, and friendly. Tom did not rush us. He enjoyed the day as much as we did. On the way home he stopped and purchased ice cream cones for each of us. Just a little treat to ease the ride back to Wellington! Tom is a gracious host full of local knowledge and willing to customize the experience. Thank you Tom for helping make our Wellington visit so enjoyable.

We had the best time traveling around with Tom. First and foremost his driving was impeccable on the windy streets of Wellington! We could not have done that kind of driving ourselves. Everyone we met at each of the establishments were fond of Tom and therefore fond of us. That made a huge difference than if we had done this on our own. We love food tours and they are the best ways to get to know a city. This tour with Tom goes down as one of the best!

We are thrilled that we chose Tom and Jill with Kaewa Tours. From our first contact with Tom by phone, we knew that the week we toured around the Kapiti/Wellington area, we were getting first-class, personalized treatment. Tom picked us up at the airport and started our tour right away, on our way to our B&B. The best part of the tour week was meeting the owners of the unique small businesses: the Manuka honey, the coffee brewing, the olive oil, Tom and Jill even had us to dinner at their home--we felt like family. We couldn't imagine a better guide to learn about the real New Zealand.

This tour was amazing. We got to roast our own coffee beans and learn about the process. We brought some home and everyone loves the coffee. Additionally, we got to tour a chocolate factory, eat at local restaurants, and go to a local brewery. The food was amazing and we enjoyed Tom’s stories about all the places we visited. Tom is honestly the best not only tour guy but person.

Tom's Wellington tour was a gem! His local insights, friendly vibe, and well-paced itinerary made the experience incredible. From iconic spots to hidden corners, he nailed it. A must for anyone visiting Wellington!

We are a couple from the United States, just outside of Boston, and were visiting Wellington and wanted to see the sites and fun local attractions. We met Tom for a foodie tour and he was an amazing host/ambassador. He was punctual and communicated all that we were going to do for the day. He started our meeting by setting expectations and letting us know what we’d be in for. He’s got a great sense of humor and is obviously very knowledgeable of the area. He provided great insight into various areas as we cruised around the city. He checked in with us often to make sure we were comfortable and getting what we wanted out of the tour. The tour took us most of the day and we were able to see beautiful views while sampling coffee, a fine lunch, and craft beers. Tom exceeded expectations as a guide and did a great job of letting us know about things we could explore on the days we were spending in the city. I’ve been to many cities on many tours, and Tom ranks among the best. I highly recommend engaging him and Kaewa tours.

Tom led a fantastic private tour with us across Wellington. We started with a beautiful stop at the top of Brooklyn Hill to view the city and then visited a roastery to roast our own coffee beans (and have our fill of caffeine)! For our lunch we had weekend brunch at Shepard, ate our (first) dessert at a chocolate factory, and then sampled some local beers at a nearby brewery. Dessert #2 was at a gelato shop before hitting a couple of requested Lord of The Rings locations. We loved the pace, variety, and overall quality of the tour. Absolutely recommend this. Thanks Tom!
