Gita di un giorno a FAMAGUSTA medievale (Kyrenia, Nicosia o Famagosta )

Oggi visiteremo l'est di Cipro. Abbiamo molte attrazioni nel nostro programma poiché Famagosta è una delle città storiche da vedere in un tempo limitato mentre si è a Cipro. Il Monastero di San Barnaba sarà la nostra prima tappa della giornata. Quando tornò a Cipro e diffondendo il cristianesimo cosa gli era successo. Ascolterai tutto sulla storia dalla tua guida mentre guidi verso l'antica città di Salamina. Dove vedrai il teatro, le latrine, la palestra e altri luoghi d'interesse. Famagosta è una città medievale con i resti di culture storiche. Vedrai la Cattedrale di San Nicola, il Palazzo Veneziano che sono alcuni dei luoghi inclusi nel programma. Non possiamo tornare indietro senza aver visto la Città Fantasma. Ci sono fantasmi in giro? Aspetta di essere qui dalla tua guida. Itinerario
Oggi inizieremo la nostra giornata guidando verso il nord est dell'isola. La nostra prima tappa della giornata sarà il Monastero di San Barnaba e il Museo delle Icone. Barnaba era ebreo e per i suoi studi superiori si recò a Gerusalemme. Quando il cristianesimo si stava diffondendo, credette nel cristianesimo e tornò a Cipro e iniziò a diffondere la religione. C'erano persone contro le sue idee. Uccisero Barnaba ma i credenti che si erano convertiti al cristianesimo lo seppellirono in una grotta sotto un carrubo ma i credenti furono inseguiti fino all'Egitto e nessuno sapeva dove fosse sepolto per decenni. Come hanno trovato la sua tomba? Oggi visiterai la sua Tomba e il Museo delle Icone e la tua guida ti parlerà di Barnaba......
La nostra prossima tappa della giornata saranno le rovine di Salamina. La mitica fondazione di Salamina risale all'11 a.C. L'eroe di guerra di Troia Teucro fu esiliato dall'isola greca di Salamina per non essersi preso cura del suo fratellastro Aiace, morto durante la guerra. Ha navigato fino a Cipro e si è stabilito qui e ha chiamato il regno come Salamina. Visiterai la palestra, il teatro, le terme romane e la tua guida ti parlerà di Salamina.
La città era circondata da mura dai Lusignano. In seguito furono fatte delle aggiunte durante i veneziani. Ci sono molti siti storici rimasti da molti patrimoni che erano passati attraverso Cipro. Ne vedrai molti oggi mentre fai una passeggiata in questa città medievale.
Fu costruita dai Lusignano come cattedrale nel 1298-1312. È stata chiamata Cattedrale di San Nicola ed è una delle più belle cattedrali in stile gotico. Per molti anni furono incoronati Re di Gerusalemme. Quando gli Ottomani conquistarono l'isola, aggiunsero un minareto e lo trasformarono in una moschea. Oggi è ancora usato come moschea. Il luogo fu inizialmente chiamato Ayasofya e successivamente cambiato in Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque. L'albero "Ficous Sycomorus" che è piantato sul lato di questa straordinaria architettura gotica risale al 1299.
Durante il periodo ottomano Famagosta è stata utilizzata come luogo di esilio per molte persone. Namık Kemal, lo scrittore era contro il Sultano così fu imprigionato a Famagosta e vi rimase per 38 mesi. In questo tour la tua guida ti dirà molto di più su di lui e sui suoi libri. La sua prigione si trova all'interno del palazzo veneziano. Ha anche una statua proprio di fronte alla piazza che porta il suo nome. La statua è stata sostituita nel 1953. .Una volta questo posto era conosciuto come Varosha. Belle case, hotel, pieni di turisti e molto altro stava succedendo. Fu abolito nel 1974 e dopo 46 riaperto. La tua guida ti racconterà tutto sul posto mentre fai una passeggiata nella zona.

I was in Cyprus again as I had to visit the places that I had missed on my last tip. As I was so pleased with Sirin Suha on my last visit I made all the arrangements with her again. We had a great time together. She was punctual, told us about the history of the historical sites and at the end she took us to a local restaurant where we had the local lunch. If you are going to visit Cyprus, I highly recommend Sirin Suha's tours.

I joined the "Famagusta" tour and the "Divided City Capital tour" on 25th November. Sirin is a beautiful lady, she really knows a lot about the places, of the stroll of Varosha, even it's with a bit of drizzle, she tells what she sees along the way - the dilpilated residences, the shopfronts - the sights just leave you with a sad and undescribable meaning. During the trip, I also get to see lots of churches along the way, which you know more about the history of the place! Of the Nicosia tour, one of the most lovely and reflective things I get to see were the graffitis. Sirin has a great sense of humour, snd don't be hesitant to ssk her questions, she really really expresses her viewpoints clearly no matter what, and that's really great way to keep the energy flowing! Famagusta was unforgettable. The city’s rich and at times heavy past came through clearly thanks to the way Şirin guided us with honesty, clarity, and a strong sense of respect.
