May 2026 Couples If you plan on doing this tour, be aware that the activity provider may cancel on you last minute. We booked our tour with them months in advance, only to receive a message from them the day before that they didn't have anyone else booked by that point. At that point I asked them outright if they would cancel on us if they didn't get more reservations, and the reply was "In that case, we will only make your reservation if there are no other available options." Although the reply was a bit unclear, we assumed it would fine. I then got a message that evening from the manager saying they were canceling our tour. He said their policy is a minimum of five passengers, but on the Viator Website where we booked, hidden at the bottom of a drop-down link, all it says is "This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it's canceled because the minimum isn't met, you'll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund". The manager felt that was sufficient warning, but given the reply from his colleague earlier in the day, and the fact that I would have had to guess what their minimum was, I was unpleasantly surprised by the last-minute cancellation. As it was so last-minute, and our itinerary was too solidly booked to go at a different time, we ended up missing out on this experience altogether. We otherwise had a wonderful time in Rio and found all the tourist infrastructure well organized and accommodating, but our experience with Jeep Rio (a division of Bambu Tours) was sadly a disappointing exception.

Our tour guide was highly knowledgeable and helpful. Be prepared for gorgeous views. If visiting during the month on October, please make sure to bring a light jacket. Tempetures change becomes cooler from the coast into the deeper and higher elevations of the Tijuca Forrest. Hiking is very light, but make sure to use shoes that have tread for the trail. We were highly impressed with the tour and definitely recommend to anyone interested.

Go ahead and book it! Our experience was fantastic! We got picked up from our Airbnb and dropped off! You’re getting a jeep tour of Tijuca but you’re also technically getting a sightseeing tour of the city on your way to Tijuca, it’s very beautiful. Our tour guide was so informative and even allowed us to get off at a couple stops and take a walk around to see the waterfalls and other places. 10/10

An excellent tour! Our guide Silva was sensational. He had a wealth of information at every stop and gave equal time to passengers speaking different languages. We saw monkeys, waterfalls, and hiked through a jungle trail. There were several beautiful mountain views of the city, and it was just a bonus that the open-air jeep was a terrific way to take in more of the city to and from the Tijuca forest. Highly recommend!

Silva our guide knew his stuff.. it is not stressful and he arrived on time to pick us up.The environment was absolutely stunning

Wonderful tour with Silva. Great energy and very knowledgeable. You have to have good health because this hike is not for people with poor health/not fit. Would definitely recommend to people who love nature and hiking!

Do not go alone or with a partner, you must go in a group and prepared for everything. In my trip I went up with 3 Frenchmen but on the way down I went ahead because they were slower Without realizing it, halfway through I got a guy asking me for my phone in bad ways and money. He started screaming and in two seconds he pulled the knife out, tried to threaten me. I told him he didn't try to nail me but I don't know how I took his arm and forgemas without falling to the ground which is what the very animal wanted. I started shouting help, help, thieves (in English and Spanish) and scadually 3 lords and one of them came up. tried to get closer, but he instantly turned to him, then the rest of us started screaming like crazy and the robber escaped in the brush. Infinite scare and I don’t know how I react like this, but in mobile nowadays we carry everything. It worked out fine, but I gambled my life, I was stupid.

Silver was excellent host, definitely recommend it. Don’t forget to take mosquitoes repellent spray, highly recommended

Nice tour of the park! The very friendly tour guide was informed and engaged, you could learn a lot of new things. I would recommend the tour to anyone, the stops were great and it is fun to ride the jeep.

We had SO much fun on this excursion! Was our last day in Rio and couldn’t have chosen a better way to end our trip. Our guide (also the owner) was friendly and funny and informative. Plus the ride through the city to get to the park was a bonus! Swimming at the waterfall also a highlight. Highly recommend.
