Unforgettable

I had an amazing time during the Salkantay trek with TreXperience. Although the hike could be difficult, our guides Favio and Juan were very patient and made sure that everyone could follow their own pace. Additionally, they taught us a lot about the Inca history and the nature we crossed along the way. The food was also incredible, with multiple dishes each meal to meet everyone’s needs. Overall an unforgettable experience!

Beautiful memories, fantastic food, incredible experience

The Trexperience Salkantay trek was the perfect physical challenge with the high-altitude hiking on sometimes tricky terrain, an eye-opening experience that teaches about Inca history and nature, with multiple-times-daily feasts of exceptional Peruvian food, and all the while awe-inspiring, ever-changing landscapes and views. The cost was very reasonable for the fantastic service we received throughout. The campsites were stunning and comfortable. The view of the milky way on the first night was a highlight. The trails were tidy and mostly not busy except at a couple of points of interest. Would recommend to anyone with a good level of fitness (don't underestimate the altitude, it affects everyone differently) and a positive attitude towards a challenge that's definitely worth the effort! I did the 5-day trek, not 4. Last day was visiting Machu Picchu by bus, with optional mountain hikes. Climbing Machu Picchu mountain was the icing on the cake and the steps feel like they're never ending after 4 days of trekking through the Andes. Dizzying views from the top though. And much quicker (but scarier) on the way down!

Salkantay Trek

This is an awesome and extremely well organized trip. We couldn’t believe how much we got for the price we paid. All the staff is incredibly thoughtful and attentive making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable trip. Would definitely recommend this company for anyone looking to hike to Machu Picchu. Extra shout out to our guides Roberto and Jose! They’re the best.

Incredible experience and landscapes, but unpleasant pressure regarding tips.

The experience was difficult, but very satisfying. (Note that my physical condition was nil and the altitude also caused me problems. Several in the group more accustomed to doing hikes had no issues). David and Fabio were excellent guides and supported me in moments when I had difficulties. They sought to solve problems and maintain excellent energy and optimism. The lunches and meals were plentiful and delicious. The landscapes were very beautiful and the experience really lent itself to developing camaraderie and friendships with the rest of the companions. I have 2 constructive criticisms: -On the third day, the guides generate a lot of pressure to leave a tip of approx 100 soles per person. They introduce you to the team that cooks and carries the luggage and they publicly expect to receive their tip. It is a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience for those of us who already paid for the service and hope to disconnect. I want to clarify that the problem is not giving a tip if it is voluntary. The problem is the context of social pressure and the high suggested tip. For example, almost all of us happily gave tips to our guides, because we developed a relationship with them and because there was never any pressure to have to give a tip or demand a particular amount. I prefer that they charge me more and pay the team well than to be in the middle of the mountain trying to get cash to give a tip due to social pressure. Without a doubt this experience was unpleasant for my entire group and a terrible practice that soured what was a very nice experience. -I rented a sleeping bag with TreXperience, but they gave me a very small one. I am 185cm tall and I could not close it. Which led me to be cold and have a bad night at the first accommodation. I do not know if they offer other sleeping bag sizes. Maybe the solution is to rent it from another business. I also want to leave some tips for potential travelers: -Bring warm clothing. The first night it is veeeery cold. And it is essential to be able to rest that night. -Buy toilet paper, altitude medicine and, if possible, Compeed to deal with blisters. -Bring between 800 and 1000 soles in cash. Hopefully in small bills. You will not have access to ATMs or card payment the first few days.

Super great experience with the best guides

We did the Salkantay Trek with the best guides, Jose and Roberto! We can 100% recommend it. Everything was super organized, the food was varied and super delicious (thanks to the great cooks). We always felt safe and, in addition to the beautiful hike, we also learned a lot about the culture and history of Peru. Saludos, Malen(a) and Lilli 🫶🏼

we had the best time on our trexperience trip, our guides Jose and Roberto were so much fun and were very well informed. We were a little worried before the trip about the difficulty level of the trek, but it is super chill and everyone goes at their own pace. The food is amazing, the chefs provide incredible meals for all dietary requirements. The trek was absolutely amazing - cannot recommend enough!!!

An Unforgettable Adventure

The Salkantay Trek to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, guided by Nilton, Luis Miggie, and their hardworking team of porters and chefs, was a remarkable experience. A huge thank you to you all. Nilton’s expertise, warmth, and attentiveness as a guide were outstanding. He worked tirelessly to create a positive, supportive, and seamless experience for our group on the trail. His team were equally dedicated, giving their absolute best every day. We were cared for in every possible way. The food was incredible, the scenery spectacular, the laughter abundant, and I’m still smiling when I think about the people I shared this journey with. The fact that three of the ten people in our group chose to commemorate the experience with tattoos says everything. This journey was about so much more than arriving at the magical Machu Picchu. It was an unforgettable adventure that challenged us, connected us, and left us all transformed. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
