Pedala attraverso 2.000 anni di storia in questo tour guidato in bicicletta di 2,5 ore del centro storico di Lione, sito Patrimonio dell'Umanità dell'UNESCO. Inizia dal Grand Hôtel-Dieu, un ospedale del XII secolo trasformato in hotel, prima di ammirare la Basilica di Notre-Dame de Fourvière che domina la città dalla cima della collina. Sali a La Croix-Rousse, il ripido quartiere della tessitura della seta dove le traboule un tempo permettevano ai lavoratori di spostare il tessuto sotto la pioggia, quindi fermati a un murale che ripercorre due millenni di storia di Lione. Scendete a ruota libera verso Place des Terreaux e la sua Fontana Bartholdi, oltrepassate il Palais de Justice sulla Saona, e nella Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, dove un orologio del XIV secolo segna ancora l'ora. Attraversa Place Bellecour, una delle piazze pedonali più grandi d'Europa, prima di terminare a La Confluence, dove si incontrano il Rodano e la Saona. Questo imponente punto di riferimento fu costruito nel 1184 e servì da ospedale per più di 800 anni! Ora un hotel a 5 stelle e un centro commerciale, queste mura racchiudono molte storie di resoconti storici e leggende.
Ammira la basilica che veglia sulla città dalla sua collina, simbolo duraturo dello skyline di Lione.
La Croix-Rousse e le sue pendici sono qualificate come patrimonio dell'UNESCO. La Croix-Rousse è l'antico quartiere operaio di Lione che ospitava i Canuts (o lavoratori della seta lionesi).
Questo affresco completato nel 1995 rappresenta 2000 anni di storia con 25 personaggi storici e 6 contemporanei di Lione. Alcune delle raffigurazioni più importanti sono i Fratelli Lumiere, Antoine de St-Exupéry e il Piccolo Principe e Paul Bocuse.
La piazza più bella di tutta Lione ospita il municipio, il Museo delle Belle Arti e la splendida Fontana Bartholdi. È il luogo perfetto per scattare foto, imparare storie e leggende interessanti e anche fare una pausa e bere qualcosa.

Guide Herbert had fantastic stories about Lyon that he told very nicely; murals that we would have missed otherwise and ‘own ‘ documentation to have ‘pictures’ to accompany it. This gave a very colorful image of Lyon . It really was a party with a lot of wonder this tour with Herbert! Highly recommended if you really want to discover Lyon . A great way to experience Lyon and learn about the history including some quirky stories. Frank was an excellent guide and very good at explaining all the sites. Loved our morning on the E-bikes.

I can't say enough good things about Frank, the owner of Holland Bike Tours. It was pouring rain with thunder and lightning the day of our tour and we asked to reschedule the next day in the morning. Lyon is a great city to explore by bike with lots of bike paths and we really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Frank, was friendly and informative about the history of Lyon. The bikes were all new Dutch style e-bikes, which were very comfortable and easy to operate. My wife was a bit nervous at first having never ridden an e-bike, but with Frank’s reassurance and care she soon got the hang of it.

We didn’t go on the bike tour but rented the high quality Holland brand. So many cities have the standard rental bikes that are not good touring bikes but the Holland made the ride more enjoyable. We hired the standard gazelle and the e-bike. I must say how impressed we were with Frank who was very knowledgeable and flexible for our needs. He made sure we were outfitted with helmets and gave us all the information for touring Lyon, including his Kamoot tour route. I will look forward to another ride with Hollland!

Very warm welcome by Frank and the two guides, all bikes in prefect condition and all well explained by Frank, very flexible and supportive! He even organised the sunshine for our tour, at arrival it was raining. A great experience to better discover Lyon by bike, this special and beautiful city has a lot to offer.
