Spring (Apr–Jun)
Warm and green with wildflowers, perfect for Knossos, the villages and the beaches before the heat.
Summer (Jul–Aug)
Hot and busy, prime for beaches and cruises but warm for ruins; visit Knossos early.
Autumn (Sep–Oct)
Warm sea and pleasant air make autumn excellent for sightseeing, wine harvest and the coast.
Winter (Nov–Mar)
Mild and quiet with some rain; great value for Knossos, the museum and the old town, though many resorts wind down.
Beat the heat
In summer, do Knossos and the museum early and save the afternoon for the sea or a cruise.
