Had such a wonderful day with Trevor on Wednesday 5th of August. Can't believe the amount of knowledge he has and the Dales were gorgeous. Particularly loved St Michael and All the Angels church. What a gem! This was our third Mountain Goat Tour and we've never been disappointed but this was the best one yet. The tour is well worth the money, plenty of photo stops and tea & coffee stops. Would highly recommend - just make sure you have some cash leftover (unlike us who had no cash on us 🫠) to tip the amazing Trevor! Thanks so much again, Trevor. Was such a fantastic day!
Thank you Harriet for your 5 star review of our Yorkshire Dales tour with driver guide Trevor! We're delighted to hear that you have experienced a few of our tours and would say that this one is you favourite. We're pleased to hear that the itinerary, stops and attractions on tour were to your liking and that Trevor highly contributed to your enjoyable time! Thank you for choosing us to Go Explore Yorkshire. Best wishes, Mountain Goat
The places that we visited were beautiful and enjoyable. But the experience with the tour guide was not good. Our guide talked constantly. It was hard to understand what he was taking about. He kept bringing up some characters in a book that we were unfamiliar with. So it was just annoying. One of our stops was supposed to be at the Aysgarth Falls but we didn’t go there. We were expecting to return by 6:15 but arrived an hour early. So I think he forgot about making that stop. The stop in Wensleydale wasn’t long enough to get lunch and see the town. It would have been better to spend more time there and maybe a little less time sitting and listening to our guide drone on about the book I didn’t know about. I hope the other tour guides who do this tour are more thoughtful.
Thank you Karen for your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed exploring the picturesque landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. We can only apologise that you weren't able to visit Aysgarth Falls, unfortunately on the day there wasn't a safe area to park or space for the mini bus, so our driver had to carry on the tour as a consequence sadly. As stated in the tour description, our Yorkshire Dales tour on selected tour departures will share a vehicle with guests travelling on our All Creatures Great and Small tour, which is the book series you are inferring to. We can only apologise if you felt that the extra information about the historic Yorkshire book and series negatively impacted your tour experience with us. We can only apologise again and do hope you enjoyed the other local knowledge, picturesque landscapes and the cheese tasting at Wensleydale! If you have any further comments or would like to speak to us in a more personable manner, please don't hesitate to give us a call: 015394 45161 or email us: tours@mountain-goat.com. Best wishes, Mountain Goat
Given physical distance between York and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, most of the time was spent on traveling. But the park is very good and worth visiting.
Thank you for your 5 star review of our Yorkshire Dales tour! We're delighted to hear about your great time with ourselves, exploring the national park and hidden spots. Unfortunately due to the nature of our attractions and spots, there is some time travelling in the bus, but we do hope that the views and comfortability made it worthwhile. Best wishes, Mountain Goat
This was a lovely day in the countryside. Because we were in a van rather than a huge bus, we were able to travel by the smaller roads past hedgerows and stone walls, enjoying the beautiful scenery, while stopping in some charming villages and eating far too much cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery. John, our guide and driver, was entertaining and informative, and the whole day was great fun. (I also really appreciated the clear directions to the meeting point. I found it immediately and that's not always the case!)
Thank you Kathleen for your 5 star review of our Yorkshire Dales tour! We are thrilled to hear about your great time exploring the villages, scenery and eating too much cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery, which is never a bad thing! We will pass on your kind words to John of whom will be very glad to know that his information and entertaining nature greatly contributed to your experience with us. Thank you for choosing us to Go Explore the Yorkshire Dales. Best wishes, Mountain Goat
We went on this tour today. Our driver was very nice and knowleddgable about the area. I would have liked to make the stops a little longer so as to have a chance to walk around a little more. We also went on a trip to Castle Howard yesterday, and that also was wonderful but I would have liked a little more time there as well.
Thank you for your kind words of our Yorkshire Dales tour from York! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time with us on tour and we will take your feedback on board regarding time at each stop when we do our annual tour itinerary review. Thank you for choosing us to Go Explore Yorkshire. Best wishes, Mountain Goat

Disappointing experience. The driver/guide spoke about films and tv programs that had been shot in the area. Not interesting to most people. Hours driving with no commentary at all. time spent at stops was too short except for Wensleydale where we had 45 minutes in the gift shop. There was a program about cheese production he never mentioned. Was it too long? Worthwhile? He seemed anxious to get us back to York on time so we skipped other stops. A cathedral. Abbey ruins. Also, ads clearly stated that we would be 8 people on the tour so everyone would have a window seat. There were 16.
Dear Roving767423, We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We always encourage any unsatisfied passengers to contact us directly so we can properly investigate concerns and discuss the tour in more detail. We would also like to clarify a few points raised in your review. Our tour itinerary does not include stops at abbey ruins or a cathedral, so no scheduled stops were skipped. In addition, nowhere in our advertising do we state that tours are limited to 8 passengers or that every guest is guaranteed a window seat so we would appreciate further information as to where you have seen this so we can investigate further. All of our tours operate with a maximum capacity of 16 passengers onboard. Our guides aim to provide commentary on the history, culture, landscapes, and also the film and television connections within the region, as many guests enjoy these aspects of the tour. We appreciate that interests vary from person to person, and we value all feedback provided. Best wishes, Mountain Goat
