I gifted my son a solo photoshoot with Satoshi in Osaka, this is his review: "Satoshi does a great job of making you feel comfortable while taking photos, while also bringing you to many good spots. He allows for freedom in your poses and facial expressions, rather than telling you what to do. On top of that, he actively shows you the photos as soon as they are taken so you can get an idea of how to adjust your poses, positioning and facial expressions." Satoshi was communicative, accommodative, polite, friendly, yet professional. Photos turnaround time was the next day, so my son was able to post them on social media while we were still in Japan! For parents who don't feel like to do a family photoshoot, I highly recommend you to schedule one for your kids, they will love you for that forever!
Our photography session in Kyoto was truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. Our local photographer, Satoshi, was incredibly personable and warm, and he immediately put our group at ease. From the start, he created such a relaxed atmosphere that we found ourselves laughing naturally and genuinely enjoying every moment in front of the camera. What made the experience even more special was his deep knowledge of the area. As first-timers in Japan, we appreciated walking through the historic streets and past beautiful shrines while he shared stories about the history, cultural traditions, and architectural details we absolutely would have missed on our own. It felt like we got the best of both worlds, a private tour and a talented photographer all in one. Most importantly, he captured our group in a way that felt authentic. The photos weren’t stiff or overly staged; they truly reflected the joy, connection, and excitement we felt about being in such a special place. If you’re visiting Kyoto and considering a photography session, I can’t recommend working with Satoshi enough. It was so much more than a photo shoot, it became one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of our trip.
We had an excellent experience with Satoshi. He met us at a kimono rental shop and took us to the most beautiful sites for photos. He was very easy to work with and we had 2 very young kids. The photos were absolutely amazing and will be lifetime memory for us!
Satoshi was very kind, patient and professional. Speaks fluent english and recommended us many tasty places after the shoot. The turn around was incredibly quick and all the photos looked amazing! Highly recommend for those who want a photo shoot out in kyoto.
We had an absolutely wonderful family photo session in Kyoto with Satoshi and couldn’t recommend him more highly. From the very beginning, his communication was excellent—he reached out in advance, asked thoughtful questions, and made sure he understood what we were hoping for before the day of the shoot. During the session itself, Satoshi was fantastic with our kids (ages 10, 8, and 6). He was warm, patient, and personable, which immediately put everyone at ease and made the experience genuinely fun rather than stressful. He chose beautiful locations and showed real expertise by pivoting seamlessly when certain spots were too crowded, always finding quieter, equally stunning alternatives. What really stood out was how well he listened. He took our feedback seriously, incorporated our specific requests, and balanced them perfectly with his own creative judgment. The result was a relaxed, enjoyable experience and photos that truly reflect our family and our time in Kyoto. All around, this was a great experience from start to finish, and Satoshi was a huge part of what made it so special.

We had a wonderful experience with Satoshi! He made the experience enjoyable and comfortable, even for our two small children. Not only did he take beautiful photos, he explained the history and culture of the area. I would absolutely recommend him!
Our photographer was prompt and knowledgeable and made taking photos easy. We got many photos in historical locations around Kyoto. Rent some kimonos and go get photos taken! It’s a great souvenir to commemorate your trip!
Our objective for this trip was to learn about the country, people, culture, history and local customs. In this day of unknowns, we were very luck to found JOURNEY JAPAN, a tour planning company, based out of Kobe, Japan. The entire trip was well planned and executed by them. Any time, we didn't feel rushed. They didn't provide a local guide, which was not needed because our drivers were willingly updating us. We visited Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe and Hiroshima in early September 2025. We were delightfully surprised to enjoy Shinkassen train rides 3 times. All of hotels were like Hilton (Odaiba, Tokyo), Marriott Courtyard (Osaka) and top local brands in Shizuoka and Kyoto. Except for Tokyo, all of our hotels were near to the railway stations. They managed our tickets for the attractions and ferries. They provided all of our sumptuous and wide variety dinners in local Indian restaurants. We opted not to eat lunch every day because the hotels provided a variety of vegetarian options. Please note that Japan is a very clean country and you will NOT find any trash lying around. We all could learn from this example. During our travel, we visited many local convenience store and delighted to see the cleanliness, efficiency and product offerings. You must try Japanese snacks, they a delight. We could not visit Mt. Fuji due to a Typhoon with a torrential rain. Luckily, the storm went in to the sea. However, we were able to see it from the distance as the weather cleared. Anywhere, we went and if we needed to ask question, the middle and high school students were more than gracious to assist us. Japan is NOT a tip based country. However, our van drivers were with us for more than 10 hours a day and we appropriately compensated them. We observed that people are of slim figure type because they eat small portions and walk a lot. A large number of people ride bicycle to all types of chores. Just about near all of the railway stations, they have large number of bicycle parking lots. From this trip. I personally have learned a lot and if life permits in future, I would love to visit the western side of the island.
Kimi was the photographer who took our pictures. We have two younger kids and she was so patient and kind. We would definitely recommend her, she knew the best places to take our pictures. We had a great experience.
