This was a really fun time and an amazing experience for me, a person who had never been on the ocean before! I'm from MN and I was really nervous to do it but decided to go for the adventure. Our guide was absolutely amazing and great about putting everyone at ease. It was beautiful, educational, exciting, and fun. I definitely recommend!!
Our family of four (two adults, two teens) participated in the 2-hour Puget Sound Kayak tour. We had a wonderful time. Our tour group included three kayaks, two to a kayak, and was suitable for beginners (although we do have kayaking experience). Most kayaking took place near the harbor; there wasn't time to go too far afield. Still, we saw a lot of wildlife - eagles, ospreys, herons, kingfishers, harbor seals, sea lions - and learned about the natural history of Puget Sound and little about Ballard. Our tour guide was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Not a long drive from downtown Seattle and a perfect outdoor activity if you have a tight schedule but want to get out on the water.
The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and always helpful with a big smile. The tour work kayak passed fast, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery. From the outside of the Ballard locks to nature such seagulls, bald eagles, seals, and sea lions. The train passing by the Balladrd locks. it was just a perfect Seattle summer adventure.
I live just a few miles from Shilshole Bay and am an inexperienced kayaker, so I wanted to take a guided tour. Emma was entertaining and knowledgeable, while making sure everyone was safe and comfortable. We saw seals, sea lions, and sea stars. It was a great two hours!
Fantastic experience- got to see a lot of seals and our guide was super knowledgeable about the whole area. Great way to see the sound !
We had the best day on our sound tour with Teri. We are a family of 5, kids ages 9-12. Even the 12 year old, who is difficult to please, loved it! We saw harbor seals, sea lions, lots of shore/sea birds like a blue heron, and a close up show from a bald eagle! We are beginners so Teri tailored the tour to our levels. We found the tour highly enjoyable and not too difficult, although my arms were a bit sore the next day. A must do in Seattle with kids or teens!
We had a great time doing the kayaking tour, our guide was informative and energetic. We got to see sea lions, otters, and pelicans. Have towels in your car in case you get wet, some water got in the kayak and my pants were pretty soaked, but I had towels and anticipated that so it was fine. They have all the gear you will need, so just shore up for a good time.
It was great! Teri took our small group of 6 out onto the water. We saw harbor seals, herons, geese (and baby geese), eel grass, starfish, crabs, and we heard the sea lions. We learned a lot about the Puget Sound, the local tribes and local history, salmon run, and the south resident orcas. Teri was a great guide, and we felt safe at all times. I do wish we went further out into the sound, but I understand how that could be challenging for a guide to handle. I would definitely say that this was worth the money.
Wonderful trip on Puget Sound! Our guide was kind, helpful, informative with lots of local history and wildlife facts. Don’t miss this opportunity!
Beautiful water and surroundings, Guide was super kind, helpful and informative. We saw sea lions, seals, bald eagle nest and many other birds and water fowl. Highly recommend this tour!
