This itinerary includes a two hour Mekong River cruise that is just fantastic. The caves are simply amazing, you’ll love them. Tour guide Mone did everything possible to make our trip enjoyable - really took our needs into consideration. The agenda was flawless. The timing was perfect. The driver was superb. The guide was excellent.
Excellent guide, knowledgeable, cheerful, attentive. Fully recommend for anyone going to Luang Prabang to engage him.
WOW in many ways! Starting with our tour guide, Kong, he was excellent. He gave us the perfect amount of space to enjoy ourselves, yet he was also readily available for questions and explanations of the sites we visited. This excursion was definitely a major highlight of our visit to Laos. The lunch was also excellent! Be sure to bring a swim suit because you'll surely want to swim at the waterfalls. I recommend this tour, and I highly recommend you request Kong as your guide. (One side note: The last stop of the day is a walk through a small village where virtually everyone, including little kids, try to sell you something. We would have been happy to skip that stop.)
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! We're thrilled to hear that Kong made such a positive impression—he truly is a fantastic guide who knows how to strike the perfect balance between providing insightful information and allowing guests to enjoy the moment. We're also glad you enjoyed the lunch and the stunning waterfalls—definitely a highlight for many! Thank you for your honest note about the village stop. We truly appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve the experience for future guests. We hope to welcome you back to Laos someday for more unforgettable adventures!
Comprehensive day trip. Boat ride on the Mekong River, climbed up to caves, lunch on the river, waterfalls, walk through Hmong village
It sounds like you had an action-packed and memorable day! A boat ride on the Mekong River, hiking to caves, lunch with a river view, exploring waterfalls, and walking through the Hmong village all sound like perfect ways to experience the beauty and culture of the area. Such a comprehensive tour definitely gives you a well-rounded experience. Thanks for sharing your highlights—this will surely inspire others to embark on this adventure too!
We had the most wonderful private tour with Mr Than, he was a lovely knowledgeable guide, with a great sense of humour & gave us some unique opportunities to interact with some of the local Laos people which were an absolute highlight. A scenic 2 hour private boat ride down the Mekong to the caves, followed by a gorgeous lunch on the opposite side of the river, with a beautiful view & wonderful local scarves & souvenirs being sold. We then headed to the Whisky village and sat & drank whisky & beer lao with the villagers, truly such a special & memorable experience. The drive on to the waterfalls was long, but they are some of the most beautiful waterfalls we have seen and finally, we stopped at a Hmong village of the way back. If you have more time than we did in Luang Prabang, you may want to split the 2 trips. We booked through Viator but would thoroughly recommend who they leveraged locally & most definitely, Mr Than, if you are lucky enough to get him as your guide (or even request him).

We had a fantastic trip with Mr Than which was great value for money. With a 2 hour boat ride in our own private boat down the Mekong river to the Pak Ou Caves and great lunch included overlooking the river. Fabulous opportunities to mix with the locals at both the whisky village and Hmong village as well as some of the most stunning waterfalls we have ever seen. Mr Than was very knowledgeable & we really enjoyed his company throughout the day. Would highly recommend.

It's also wonderful to hear that Mr. Than’s knowledge added to the experience. Thank you for sharing such a detailed and positive review – I’m sure others will love reading it too!
This tour was so magical. We had a private long boat to ourselves and it exceeded my expectations. Seriously, Chansay was the best guide. Our dietary restrictions were fully adhered to. I loved visiting the villages. Our driver and guide were completely organized and on one accord. It was the best. Also, our tour guide took great photos!!!

This tour was absolutely outstanding! Chansay Was our guide and he was truly the best! This tour truly exceeded my expectations. In fact, I took more photos here than I did at Ha Long Bay. This was above and beyond. The boat ride itself was totally worth the whole tour. The lunch halfway through the tour was the perfect resting point and our dietary restrictions were completely adhered to. I would absolutely recommend this tour.
