We paid for a few extra hours to do Monte Albán, but they kept the allotted time of 9-5pm and we had to choose to do either the Mezcal tasting or the textiles, not both.
For our family of 4 with different energy levels and dietary needs, it was great to have this private tour. The textile house and mezcal tour were very interesting and zero pressure to buy. The driver was on time and courteous and we appreciated that he also took us to the tule tree. What would have been better is if the driver also could have been more of a guide - telling us about the area, the history or the different stops, rather than just functioning as a driver.
We had a great day with Edi. & Abram! She was so funny, kept the tour interesting for the entire day! Which is not easy, haha!
What an amazing experience . Ede was and amazing host very knowledgeable and very dedicated to her mission. We did many things in one single day and we learn a lot of the Oaxaca culture and traditions. Highly recommend it !!
Edelmira was a spectacular guide. He has a lot of knowledge about our Zapotec culture. He explained everything in a simple way and with great enthusiasm. It is very friendly and friendly too. We really enjoyed it. Thanks also to our driver, friendly, friendly and took us safely everywhere. The buffet to eat delicious and with typical Oaxaca food.
This tour was disappointing. They switched out the driver/tour guide last minute without telling us, and the whole experience was not very good. He provided little to no direction, dropping us off at the first stop and even letting us walk in the wrong direction until another tour guide kindly pointed out the way. He also was not waiting for us in or anywhere near the van after that stop and said he had gone to lunch - at 11 am when lunch in Mexico is usually at 2pm and with no warning. The whole day was like that. Little information on where he was taking us and what to expect. Our first experience with Viator that has not been positive.
We went on an all day prearranged tour with Emillio who went above and beyond to show us a good time in comfort. He speaks perfect English knows the history and the areas surrounding Oaxaca, Hierve de Agua, restaurants, weavers Mezcal making, etc. It was a perfect day. I highly recommend him.
The first and most memorable stop on our tour was to the workshop of the Vasquez family of master weavers in Teotitlan del Valle. We were treated to a thorough tour of the entire process of weaving, from carding and spinning the wool, through the dyeing process, and finally weaving rugs and other items using the same ancient patterns and dyes the Zapotec people originated thousands of years ago. Everyone was so welcoming and eager to share their expertise with us. Next, our excellent guide, Jeshua, took us to Hierve el Agua, to see the fascinating petrified waterfalls and wander around the pools, although we didn't go swimming. Since Jeshua wasn't allowed to accompany us to the waterfalls, it would have been nice if there had been someone else there to tell us more about the origin and the stories surrounding these interesting mineral formations, but we enjoyed seeing them nonetheless. We then made a brief stop at a mezcal distillery for an interesting tour and tasting. Overall this was a great day trip and we enjoyed spending time with our very personable and knowledgeable guide, although there was one brief hiccup at the start of the day, when a non-English-speaking guide showed up at our airbnb to pick us up. The confusion was quickly resolved when Jeshua called us and arranged to meet at a nearby pickup location.
Today we toured the petrified water fall, weaving village and had lunch. What a fantastic tour! Our guide, Alberto Teton was amazing. He shared so much information about the area, its history, and happily attended to our every need. We were extremely happy with our guide, his company and our tour. I highly recommend them.
We had a great time with Javier! We were impressed by his knowledge of the history, culture, and flora of the region. Driving was smooth, everything was seamless.
