Itinéraire
Après la prise en charge de votre hôtel du centre-ville ou du quartier français dans une camionnette climatisée, votre visite de l'architecture commence dans le quartier français, où vous en apprendrez davantage sur l'histoire et les styles de design de la vieille ville créole de la Nouvelle-Orléans. Visitez les bâtiments Pontalba de Jackson Square, admirez la cathédrale Saint-Louis et admirez la vue sur le fleuve Mississippi. Le long de l'avenue de l'Esplanade, vous passerez devant le marché français, l'ancienne US Mint et quelques élégantes demeures.
Ensuite, descendez de votre fourgonnette et étirez vos jambes au 3e cimetière historique de St Louis. Au cours d'une visite guidée à pied, découvrez quelques-unes de ses nombreuses tombes sociales, telles que la communauté orthodoxe hellénique et le Dante Lodge of Masons, qui représentent les divers contextes d'anciens résidents de la Nouvelle-Orléans.
De retour dans votre fourgon, parcourez la paisible Bayou St John, où vous verrez des maisons de la fin des années 1700. Arrêtez-vous pour des rafraîchissements et des salles de repos après avoir traversé City Park, qui abrite le parc d'attractions Carousel Gardens et des chênes centenaires. Vous arriverez ensuite au 17e St.Canal et verrez les brèches du mur anti-inondation et serez témoin de la destruction totale causée par l'ouragan Katrina au quartier de Lakeview, ainsi que de la reconstruction prometteuse réalisée avec l'aide d'entreprises privées ainsi que des nouvelles stations de pompage.
En rentrant à votre hôtel, vous passerez par Uptown et l'avenue St Charles, où les grandes demeures coloniales du Garden District sont parmi les plus belles du Sud.

Our tour operator Anna was fantastic. Not only did she give us a preview on the stops and activities we would be embarking on. She gave us a thorough description of every area we drove through or stopped at. I had researched a lot of other tours and Tours by Isabelle had the most consistent remarks and ratings. It was an amazing tour to get to know the history of the plantations, the importance to the economy and heart Breaking slavery practices. Í liked visiting two different plantations, Laura and Whitley, and having in one a guided tour and in another an audio tour. Robert our tour driver and guide was fantastic. Pick up at our hotel was very convenient and at the exact time provided to us. Everything was confirmed by Isabelle the day before. I highly recommend this tour. Maria

We did this excursion first, upon arriving in NOLA, we all agreed the best choice, by far, giving us a lay of the land, spots we would go back to, and visit. Muriel, our guide, was very knowledgeable, providing state and city history, the cemeteries and how they are utilized, architecture, pre- and post-Katrina; we were amazed at the size and the role Lake Pontchartrain played in the hurricane. We hit Cafe Du mode for beignets and a visit! The bus has AC, comfortable, with large viewing windows, comfortable ride. Our guide Muriel's French accent (easy to understand) topped off an amazing outing. Thank you to Isabelle for your top-notch customer service.
Highly recommend Tours by Isabelle. I was able to book the tour at short notice by calling the phone number listed on their website and spoke to Isabelle directly who got things rolling right away. We were staying in the French Quarter so hotel pickup and dropoff being included was so convenient for us. John was our tour guide and had so much information to share in addition to giving us insight into how devastating Hurricane Katrina was. If you are taking a private tour during Mardis gras and staying in a hotel in The box of the parade zone then you will need to closely coordinate times and locations for pick up and drop off and some parts of the tour will have to be customized to avoid the traffic and the road closures.
Our guide/driver was so informative and engaged. If you love history as we do I would very much recommend this tour. The good and the bad and the ugly is all represented.
