Description

Wonderful tour with a delightful guide

I came into this tour a little tired from a long day of walking and sightseeing and was worried I might zone out or lose interest due to my exhaustion. I had nothing to fear, however, because Satish gave an enthralling tour that kept me captivated the entire time despite starting the tour with low energy. There is an incredible amount of history for discussion in Georgetown, way more than I had appreciated involving the east India company, the British, Indian kings/rulers, the Portuguese, Indian independence and so much more. Satish does an incredible job balancing the need to highlight the most important objects and events while also spending time to provide the background that is helpful to put everything we saw or discussed in context. His deep knowledge about the subject matter was clearly evident in his wonderful storytelling and ability to answer any question I had. I would highly recommend this tour if you are fascinated by the various actors that shaped Georgetown in Chennai!

Super fun few hours

I truly had the best experience with Satish. He was so knowledgable on all that he spoke about, from the museum to all the churches and sights we visited. He guided me through everything we were looking at and took time to explain to the perfect degree. He adapted seamlessly when it began to downpour - it even made the experience more exciting! I felt super safe as a solo traveller, and he always made sure I was ok! This was truly a highlight of my time in Chennai, thank you Satish!! Would recommend this tour specifically if you only have time for one in Chennai.

All round great walking tour!!

We booked this very last minute as we had a day in Chennai before our flight in the early hours, and I'm so glad we did book it. The communications and arrangement for meeting up with Hareesh, our guide were excellent. The tour itself was a fascinating insight into the formation of Chennai, with the Brits having a very influential, and somewhat chequered role. Hareesh explained the many landmarks in a very engaging way eg Fort St George, St Mary's Church, the Indo-Saracenic architecture and the High Court. As well as the morning tour Hareesh gave us some excellent recommendations for local shopping, as well as visiting the oldest bookshoop in India (Higginbothams) and a wonderful biryani restaurant, which was heaving with locals. All great recommendations Hareesh. Thank you so much for responding at such late notice, and for helping us to experience what Cheannai has to offer. Thotoughly recommend 5Senses.

Very interesting tour of Fort St. George

We learned a lot and discovered new corners. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the history of Madras and not only want to see the museum. Attention was always paid to our needs and information was also given on many other topics.

Interesting and knowledgeable tour

It was an excellent tour with Sathish learning about George Town and the British. Knowledgeable and pleasant. Visiting lesser known parts of Chennai such as the Armenian church was super interesting
