Alexis was an excellent guide around the old town, he was informative and funny and kept us in the shade when he could which was very considerate. Our coffee stop was very nice as well.
We found the tour and our guide Alexis very informative, intersting and well paced… highly recommend
Very informative tour. The tour guide definitely was an expert and was passionate about the topic and as a person who loves history, I enjoyed it very much. Alexis was a true professional and I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in stimulating their brain and getting out of the all-inclusive resort bubble
We were eager to learn about the history of Rhodes City—especially despite the steep price ($85 per adult, with a very "generous" definition of anyone over 9 years old counting as an adult). Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations. For one, Alexis (our guide) spent roughly half of the 3-hour tour covering 20th-century events (including stories about how local Turkish officials saved 51 Jews from the Holocaust, which felt highly misplaced considering that the same Turkish administration had, just 20 to 25 years prior, committed the genocide of Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks - events that famously served as "inspiration" for the Nazis' "final solution”). When booking a tour of one of the oldest continuously inhabited medieval towns in Europe, one expects to learn about its rich, ancient past rather than dwelling so heavily on the last century. To make matters worse, we later discovered numerous incredible gems in the Old Town that were inexplicably skipped during our tour. Additionally, Alexis - while clearly a nice person - showed very little enthusiasm, with no real willingness to go the extra mile, truly engage in a genuine two-way conversation, or answer follow-up questions that strayed slightly off-script. I am leaving two stars solely because I appreciated the format of the discussion—focusing not just on "what" happened but "why" and drawing interesting parallels to modern times. All in all, I cannot recommend this tour. It is hardly worth the time and definitely not worth the money.
Excellent small group walking tour! It ended up being our family plus one other, which was a very pleasant size. Alexis brought the city alive through commentary on its history, architecture, and people. We learned a lot about Rhodes, ancient, historical, and modern, and we also stopped to try some local treats. Would absolutely recommend this tour!
The tour guide Alexis was very knowledgeable, pleasant and accommodating. The history of the place is rich and fascinating. The pace of the tour was good, suitable for families with kids and elderly. We even stopped for refreshments that were included in the tour which was a really nice surprise 😊
Alexis was a great guide - really knowledgeable! From chatting with the office team via WhatsApp, to the transfers, and the tour itself; everything was on-time and very well organised. The coffee shop stop was a lovely extra touch.
We had an amazing tour of Rhodes Town with our guide Alexis today. We learnt a lot about the history of Rhodes and many interesting facts. We were a group of four and all enjoyed this tour. We would definitely recommend.
Guide was knowledgeable and interested in telling us about the history of the buildings and the island. When there was an unavoidable delay the tour company arranged a half-hour van tour for us in addition to the walking tour, at no additional expense, and that was a good addition to the walking tour. We highly recommend this tour!
Guide displayed a shocking lack of knowledge about the history of Rhodes. He kept giving us his opinions of the grand sweep of history and of Rhodes but didn't seem to know key dates, things that happened or interesting things about the places we were. Thankfully, there was a history buff on the tour who knew a ton so my wife & I asked him questions and he was a good source of information. But it was shocking how bad the guide was (and we do this a lot.)
To be honest I am shocked to hear this feedback, as we get ONLY positive feedback for this tour, and it is highly praised by everyone. I highly suspect that this review has been posted by competitors. Please get in touch with us to provide your booking number and surname under whom it was booked, so we could verify that you indeed went on this tour. We ask each and everyone of our customers how it was their tour, and such feedback has been never reported directly to us by anyone. So as of now this feedback makes zero sense. Our guide is extremely knowledgeable and is constantly receiving ONLY positive feedback. He is, how we call it, a star, and everyone is loving him, so I really doubt that this is a real feedback.
