C'est la place la plus importante, au cœur du Sasso Caveoso, située au bord du précipice du canyon de Gravina et offrant un beau panorama. Courte halte pour visiter l'église de San Pietro Caveoso avec son célèbre toit en charpente et ses magnifiques peintures.
Il s'agit d'une ancienne maison paysanne qui raconte et montre la réalité des Sassi jusqu'aux années 1960. À l'intérieur, une vidéo passionnante vous aidera à comprendre la valeur de cette ville.
Depuis le Belvédère de Sant'Agostino, nous admirons le Sasso Barisano, la nouvelle partie des Sassi, rénovée lors de l'inscription de Matera à l'UNESCO en 1993.
Route vers le célèbre Belvédère Murgia Timone, fondé au Néolithique inférieur (6e millénaire av. J.-C.).C.) est le point culminant et son panorama est littéralement à couper le souffle.
C'est l'un des sanctuaires les plus célèbres et les plus beaux de la ville. Le sanctuaire, qui est toujours un lieu de pèlerinage, est en partie excavé et en partie construit. Outre la fresque byzantine de la Madone Odigidria, l'intérieur est orné d'une série de fresques de la Renaissance

Bruenella and her husband were very courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. Made us feel like family. Very enthusiastic , made our tour more than enjoyable it was fantastic , she found my family history and presented it to me . Was so enlightening .. great job. Will refer her to anyone headed to Mantera.she knew a lot about the history of mantra , great guide.
Tour at 5.30 pm due to the Giro < 24 years the morning tour was cancelled. Received a nice message from the organization whether 5:30 pm was an option. Driven with driver/guide Carlo in a luxury Mercedes bus through the Stassi with enough stops. Then to the other side of the city and visited cave houses that have been inhabited in the past. Then to a small church at the foot of the Stassi. Both parts can only be done by car. Not with a tuk tuk or walking tour. Was a nice tour of over 1.5 hours.
A great way to see the hidden parts of the beautiful Matera! The vehicle was immaculate, audio narration very clear and interesting, and the visit to the cave house was authentic and emotive - highly recommend.

Had a great time! Carlo made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Transfer was perfect and we really enjoyed the van tour. After a full day of walking the day before, the van was exactly what we needed to still see and enjoy Matera. Definitely recommended!
