Construit entre les XIVe et XVe siècles, ce temple impressionnant et célèbre est connu pour avoir le plus grand stupa de la ville. Outre son chedi imposant, Wat Chedi Luang était également autrefois la maison du Bouddha d'émeraude qui se trouve maintenant au Wat Phra Kaew à Bangkok. Comparé au Wat Chedi Luang, le Wat Phan Tao semblera assez modeste en taille. Cependant, ne vous laissez pas tromper par sa taille ! Ce petit temple est fait de bois de teck finement sculpté. C'était aussi autrefois une salle du trône pour le roi Mahotara Prateth avant de devenir une maison de prière dédiée.
Ce bâtiment magnifique et somptueux a été construit au 14ème siècle et est connu comme l'un des plus beaux temples de la ville. Avec des terrains incroyables, des designs acclamés et un sanctuaire incrusté de mosaïques, il y a beaucoup à voir et à s'émerveiller, y compris la grande statue de Lion Buddha, des pagodes dorées, des peintures murales artistiques et des statues historiques.

We had a wonderful time walking through the old city of Chiang Mai. Annie was a wonderful tour guide giving us the history of the old city and the kings who ruled it. She explained to us in detail what every temple signified and the application of Buddhism to the place. I highly recommend you book a tour with this group and you will never be disappointed with a guide like her.

This was the worst tour that I’ve taken in Thailand and I’ve been on several in 4 years. Guide talked too much and we walked 200 meters in 1 hour 45 minutes.

I bailed out after less than an hour of what was supposed to be a three-hour guided tour. Don’t waste your money. You’d be better off just walking between the three sites in your own time, they are easy to find on Google Maps.
