Leo was an excellent guide, locating all different wildlife species, including sloths, birds, crabs, grasshoppers, and others. He was funny, experienced, and made it a very enjoyable experience.
Our tour guide Leo was fantastic. We learned about the history of Costa Rica and different species in the park. We saw sloths, monkeys, iguanas, land crabs, bats, snakes, and more. Leo was highly skilled, knowledgeable and engaging. His enthusiasm and humor made the tour so much fun. We learned a lot on the tour. This was of the best tours I took ever. Highly recommend!
Milton was great. Very friendly and enthusiastic but not over the top. Very professional. He made a real effort to catch as many animals as possible with his scope that we never would have seen without the guide. He also shared his extensive knowledge on both plants and animals. I also really liked the tour ending at the beach so we could take our time swimming. This tour met outside the market and it was very straightforward and all the guides know each other so it was easy to find him. We were notified who our guide was ahead of time. On the day we went, it wasn’t as crowded as others are saying… it was very manageable and we saw a ton of animals including both types of sloths, howler monkeys, a toucan, lizards, crabs, tons of birds, fish, bats… worth it to book a guide for sure. One thing, for those traveling internationally, go at 7am. The sun is just too strong in the afternoon to be wandering around comfortably. We did 7am and it was great, we ended up touring from 7-930 and playing at the beach for 2 more hours.
Guide was fantastic - he helped us see all types of animals and did the best he could to avoid crowds. The only downside was the park was super crowded even at 750 in the morning. I learned this was the most popular park in Costa Rica which sometimes made it harder to hear or see things. Not on the guide or tour at all but should be known ahead of time.
I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Milton, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very observant. We would not have seen 90% of the things we say if we did have a guide.
Our guide was fun and full of facts about the biodiversity in the park. He was great in helping us take pictures with his scope. It was just too bad we were not able to see a good sloth.
The park was so crowded we ended up going in the reverse direction. The parking area was a mess. Our guide was directing me on where to turn around and motioned me to back up until I hit the tail light of a tourist van. It cost me a quick $300. Not the most professional operator. Milton was great. He was extremely knowledgeable and was good at finding the best angles for you to view the animals. I definitely recommend him.
So first off they do bag checks here so MAKE SURE YOU TAKE EVERYTHING YOU DONT WANT THROWN AWAY OUT. We went with a tour guide and his name was Milton and he was amazing! He looked out for almost everything we could’ve seen through out the forest. From snakes hardly visible to the naked eye to the littlest bats cuddling underneath leaves. We even had the amazing luck of seeing a sloth active during the day eating a cannon ball fruit, which none of the guides ever seen, right next to its baby! He even spotted a cayman crocodile!! Thank you Milton for being such an amazing and interactive tour guide. You really made this first time at Manuel Antonio such and amazing experience! I’m looking forward to my next visit here real soon.
Thomas was excellent as our guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and made sure we got a chance to look for wildlife we were interested in seeing (sloth, monkeys, caiman, fer-de-lance, frogs, crabs, etc). It was a wonderful experience. He was extremely engaging for my 6yo who was so excited to see snakes. We were able to take pictures through his scope to get high quality images. Highly recommend Thomas for any guided tour through Manuel Antonio!
