Don’t waste your time or money. They tried to change my booking time the night before when I booked weeks ahead. They never sent the link to the tour app - and honestly you don’t need it- the ferry ticket includes a self guided tour player. Basically paid more for nothing. There was no group or person to meet and no app provided. Just book a ferry ticket - it’s all you need.
Ferry included, audio tour good. Takes a couple of hours in total can stay as long as you wish.
The trip was great and super cool to see however I would not recommend this booking company. I was booked at one time and then moved to another w/o consultation. Couldn’t be ahold of anyone to talk to, they do everything possible to not speak to you. Book elsewhere.
Arrive early and have something to eat before the trip. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. And stay hydrayed
Chilly ferry ride! The trip was really interesting.. too bad part of the bldg was under construction.

I will never use Tripadvisor again. I was told 8:30am for my tour when I got there I was told my is at 12:30pm. The people at the ticket counter said Tripadvisor does this all the time.You don't get tickets from Tripadvisor you get a voucher. They don't explain that when you order the tickets.

Booked with 2 six weeks in advance, updated to 3 one week later. Confirmed 3. Morning of tour, only 2 tickets were sent. Bounced between Viator and Tour operator multiple times, each saying the other was responsible. Walked to Pier to try to fix in person, only to find out that it was sold out for the day, so we couldn’t add the third person. Eventually abandoned the tickets because we couldn’t add not leave one person behind. Disappointing that no one in customer service could get it together to help solve a problem that was created by them.

Not to book with Viator as we booked over 6 months ago for 10.45 trip to Alcatraz , had it all confirmed and reconfirmed the day before the trip and tickets were issued just before 10 pm the night before the trip time changed to 14.45. We had to hang around the ferry terminal for 4 hours as our original trip time of 10.45 did not exist on the operators schedule and Viator blamed the agent and offered no compensation as they thought this was ok, although we complained about inconvenience several times. The agent nearby was meant to contact us but of course they did not. Very disappointing and no customer service.

The tour is summarized as 1-2 hours at Alcatraz. When we lined up to get on ferry, we were told that we are signed up for tour that goes to angel island first (9:30 am ferry) and then to Alcatraz arriving at Alcatraz at 1:35. When I purchased the tour, I was under impression that it was to be 1-2 hours and that angel island is optional. Unfortunately due to timing constraints, we couldn’t go because we would missed our flight. I spent over $330 on this tour and am livid that it was misrepresented. There were two other couples in the queue in similar situation and I assume they bought tickets through Pintours/Viator. I hope to be refunded due to the misrepresentation of what we purchased.

Amazing experience. So much history in Alcatraz. The headsets to listen to the tour was spectacular.
