La forteresse de Belogradchik, également connue sous le nom de Kaleto («la forteresse» du kal turc), est une ancienne forteresse située sur le versant nord des montagnes des Balkans, à proximité de la ville de Belogradchik, située au nord-ouest de la Bulgarie, et constitue le principal attrait culturel et historique de la ville , dessinant, avec les rochers de Belogradchik, le flux principal de touristes dans la région. C'est l'une des places fortes les mieux préservées de Bulgarie et un monument culturel d'importance nationale.

A bit out of the way, but we'll worth it! The terrain is spectacular and the history is rich. Bring a camera!!! Our driver Philip was a delight - he was careful, he brought us back to Sofia via an alternate route through the mountains, his English was excellent, and the conversation was thoroughly enjoyable.
Great walking with it’s untarnished beauty both the mountains and its formidable gate, a kaleto that once a stronghold of Bulgaria’s defense and now a significant part of nation’s history.
Very special place in Bulgaria (very different than the center and South), if you have time, go and see this magical place. Our driver/guide was also very kind and open minded.
We visited the Belogradchik rocks on a day trip from Sofia in August. We were expecting a minibus of people but instead we were the only two on the tour and had a private taxi for the day. The trip was very enjoyable, although we found the temperature very hot so make sure to bring plenty of water. Plomin (our guide) was very friendly and professional, even helping us to order lunch from a local sandwich shop. As we had some time remaining after our trip to the Belogradchik rocks and fortress, Plomin took us to the nearby Venetsa Cave and again was very helpful, translating the tour into English for us throughout. Thank you Smart Trans Bulgaria for a very enjoyable day trip.
We had a great time, Belogradchik rock formations were like a set from a fairytale. Our driver was very friendly and professional. We would definetly recommend Smart Trans to friends that visit Bulgaria andbbook another trip with the same company.
We had a very nice day, with smart trans bulgaria. I liked that we got free time after the driver/guide brought us to the top of the castle. And we could further spend the day as we liked. For example; the guide recommended us a fast lunch and took us to a monastery in north Bulgaria as we requested.
