Our experience was terrific and yes, we are experienced travelers. Our guide Finba was extremely knowledgeable and provided courteous accommodation (late start) for our recent arrival the night before. It was a rainy morning and the coffee shop recommendation was spot on! Our guide was also patient as we struggled to complete some purchases with a wonky card reader.

Excellent tour. Very informative tour. The information provided was both interesting and thought provoking. At the end of the tour, we were reminded that this is a shared tour but with a private vehicle. Our group was my family of three and another couple. Just be aware. We had no trouble with this arrangement, but I guess others were which is why we were reminded at the end.

Our driver picked us (four separately scheduled couples) up on time but was very gruff with us. Three of the eight passengers were required to sit backwards. We were packed in three to a seat in each row, including the front seat with the driver. He was informative; but it was as if he reading a bunch of facts he memorized while he drove us haphazardly through town sites in a random order. When we asked questions, he was flustered because we got off the rote plane. And when we asked us if he could share where we were going next, he told us the itinerary was in the email. I cannot not recommend this tour. Also, the tour time was scheduled earlier than we planned at 0815. We stopped at the market first but none of the stalls were open. Then, several stores in Porvoo were not open this early. It was disappointing to go the market and town when things weren’t even open to peruse and enjoy.
We would like to clarify that this is not advertised as a private tour. Our listing clearly states that it is a small-group shared tour with a maximum of 8 guests. Unlike many operators that use large public buses, we provide transportation in a comfortable passenger van. At approximately €90 per person, a fully private tour is not included. The vehicle is licensed for up to 9 passengers, and all seats are approved passenger seats. Finnish law requires seat belts to be worn at all times. During this tour, several guests repeatedly removed their seat belts, causing continuous safety-warning sounds in the van despite reminders from the driver. We would also note that the group was frequently noisy during the commentary, making it difficult for other guests to hear and enjoy the information being provided. This made conducting the tour more challenging than usual. The departure time and itinerary were communicated in advance. The early start is necessary to cover both Helsinki and Porvoo within the tour duration. Unfortunately, local shop and market opening hours are outside our control, and on Saturdays some businesses open later or remain closed.
We booked and paid for a private tour and car. We were piled into a small van with three other couples. Three of the seats were back facing so you couldn’t see what the guide was talking about until he had already passed it. He went on and on about topics of no interest to anyone. Very unhappy with this experience. I’ve taken several other trips with this company during this vacation and had issues as well. I would not recommend using again.

Rear-facing seats are standard approved passenger seats commonly found in touring vans and are fully suitable for sightseeing. Regarding the tour experience, this was the same group where several guests were continuously talking, laughing, and interrupting the commentary, making it difficult for others to hear. Some passengers also repeatedly removed their seat belts despite reminders, causing constant safety-warning alarms inside the vehicle. Our guide provided commentary on Helsinki, Porvoo, Finnish history, and local culture according to the published itinerary. While personal interests vary, the tour was delivered as advertised. We believe this review reflects an expectation of a private tour rather than the shared small-group experience that was clearly described and provided.
Finnba is a great guide. He takes his job seriously and knows so much. The tour company is having growing pains. They seem to have switched from private or shared car tours to small group minivans. Those of us who booked as private car are reasonably upset about the last minute change. They are having to do more than one tour a day and some aren’t happy with the timing. I think once they can set up their description and scheduling process up better there won’t be the upset customers every day. The van they have is new,safe, and nice but the seating configuration isn’t what Americans are used to which also caused some in our group to be upset. The company was responsive to our concerns and we were happy with the tour but there was some stress involved that could have been prevented by better communication upfront.

However, we believe much of the dissatisfaction came from an expectation of a private tour experience, while the shared small-group tour that was booked was delivered as advertised.

Too much driving. Driver was too busy saying “look here, look there” with not many stops. Van was too small for 8 people and my husband couldn’t see anything from the back sitting in the middle. I would’ve liked to see more historical sites with stops.

Just before One to start tour , travel agent msg that this tour has become shared tour from earlier booking of Private. Never expected FINLAND Travel Agent behave unprofessional like this. Very bad

During that conversation, you informed us that you believed your pickup time was 12:00 PM rather than 8:00 AM. To accommodate your request and avoid inconvenience, we immediately adjusted the pickup time. Regarding the tour type, the booking was made as a shared tour, not a private tour. When this concern was raised, Viator reviewed the booking details and confirmed that the reservation was indeed for a shared tour. We understand there may have been a misunderstanding, but the tour operated according to the booking that was received. We strive to provide high-quality experiences at affordable prices.
