This is a family-owned business, and that shows in every detail. From the moment we signed up with Mentor Reisen, the pre-trip communication was excellent, with clear and thorough instructions that set the tone for what was to come. When we arrived that morning, a welcoming crew greeted us and had us comfortably loaded onto an air-conditioned bus within minutes, complete with breakfast drinks and snacks. It was a warm and thoughtful start to the day. As it turned out, we had chosen what would become one of the hottest days in Neuschwanstein's history, but you wouldn't have known it from our guide Elof's energy. He stayed one step ahead of the heat the entire day, offering spot-on recommendations at all three locations: the best shops, restaurants, ice cream stops, and even hidden natural gems that most visitors never find. His suggestions didn't just help us survive the heat, they made the trip genuinely memorable. Beyond the practical tips, Elof's storytelling was outstanding. His commentary was timely, well-researched, and captivating throughout. He clearly loves what he does, and that enthusiasm is contagious. Our bus driver was equally attentive between stops, and the scenic drives themselves were a highlight. At one of our stops we crossed paths with other groups from the same company, and the warmth and helpfulness of the entire Mentor Reise team was consistent across the board. After a long, hot, wonderful day, we were welcomed back onto the bus with cold drinks and salty snacks, a small touch, but exactly what we needed. If you're considering a tour, don't hesitate. Book with Mentor Reisen and ask for Elof. You won't regret it.
Elof is an exceptional guide, very informative, very friendly and made sure everyone in the group was where they should be when they should be. Gave recommendations on restaurants in the area.
This is by far one of our best tours we’ve had in Europe. The bus accommodations are excellent. Snacks and drinks are well chosen for morning and afternoon. Our. Us driver did an excellent job. But what made this tour the best for us was our tour guide Mark. He’s knowledge of the history of Ledwig II, the towns, the Neuschwanstein and the Linderhof castles are not his only skill, Mark’s delivery of the history is phenomenal, he takes you to follow the story painting it clearly in your mind and with a great sense of humor. He was always smiling, very patient with us in our silver years. Thank you Mark for making this experience so memorable. The Browns
Our driver who’s name we unfortunately didn’t catch, as well as our guide “Joe”, were extremely lovely and helpful throughout the entire day. They made this incredible trip even more wonderful. We thank them for their kindness and sharing their knowledge of this spectacular site with us!
This is a great VIP tour. Our guide was Maria and she was so knowledgeable and absolutely delightful. She made sure we were taken care of the entire day and kept us on schedule with a very courteous manner. The sites speak for themselves and they are wonderful. The bus was luxurious, stocked with drinks and snacks, and had AC for the hottest days in Bavarian history. The driver was safe and punctual as well. You cannot go wrong with this trip, but do be sure to have a moderate to above level of fitness. We tracked well over 10,000 steps on the day, and the bright side is for every trek uphill, there is a stroll downhill for balance.
Fantastic trip!!!!! Maria was fabulous! She was very knowledgeable and friendly. We would highly recommend!
We deeply enjoyed the opportunity to tour Nueschwanstein and Linderholf Castles. Our tour guide, Edith, was via informative about Munich and King Ludwig the Second. The fee was pretty expensive considering that both the tickets could be paid for a total of $60 or less. However, you’re paying for the travel and confidence that you won’t be stuck relying on public transportation. The entire length of visit was short, but just right considering visit to both sites. I would consider bringing snacks for lunch to avoid sitting eating in Füssen as to get more time to view everything.
A great way to see two palaces! We had a wonderful time on our tour. It was an all day tour and we got to see so much. Not only the castles and the grounds, but the drive through the villages was so beautiful. Alberto was a fantastic guide! He is very knowledgeable and gives just the right amount of information— and was always available if anyone had additional questions. Our driver, Qeundrim, was excellent as well. We were offered many snacks, cold drinks (including beer!), waters throughout the day. It’s also a good size- not too big of a tour group. Overall, we had a fabulous day and would definitely recommend!
We are really delighted you had a great day and enjoyed the tour as well as the drinks and the tour size! We also hope you took some great photos ! Thank you for your review and the recommendation!
Great worry free day to see the he Kings Castles! Magnificent! Lunch was lovely and not rushed. Bus comfortable and snacks and drinks along the way were plentiful. The grotto is kind of strange but interesting. The only issue is the amount of hilly walking and stairs. Make sure you are reasonably fit.
The visit to Neushwanstein was a day well spent. Not only was the castle itself amazing, but the scenic drive along the way was lovely. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of the Swiss Alps as well.
