A great experience with our captains and guides; Connor, Seb and Logan. Extremely knowledgeable and respectful of the wildlife. The information shared by the naturalist added to our experience and any questions were happily answered and the topic discussed. It gets chilly out there so dress warmly and this will allow you to make the most of your trip with optimal viewing from the top deck. The boat ride was comfortable, theres plenty of space for everyone and you can move around during the trip. We covered a wide area seeing a diverse range of wildlife. Orcas, humpback whales, stellar sea lions, eagles and other birdlife. I am quite familiar with the area but still enjoyed the tour.
Sebastian, Connor, Logan and Adam were wonderful guides! They were constantly aware of our safety and a wealth of knowledge, particularly Connor who imparted fascinating details about the animals we were seeing, their habits and habitat.
We had an absolutely fantastic day out with Prince of Whales in Telegraph Cove as a family, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. We were treated to an incredible variety of wildlife: orcas, humpback whales, pods of dolphins leaping out of the water, Dall’s porpoises, and Steller sea lions. Seeing all of this in one trip felt truly special. Our kids were completely thrilled the entire time, their excitement was contagious and made the experience even more memorable. It really was a unique day on the water. The crew (Connor, Kennedy, and Adam) were outstanding. They were professional, friendly, and clearly very knowledgeable. They shared interesting information throughout the tour without ever making it feel like a lecture, and they were great with the children. What stood out even more is that they are genuine nature people who truly care about the environment. They showed deep respect for the animals at all times, and at one point they even stopped the boat to pick up plastic waste floating in the sea. That kind of care and responsibility deserves real respect. The trip is definitely worth every penny. As a perfect finishing touch, we received free photos of the wildlife by email afterward, which was a wonderful surprise. A huge thank you to the entire team for such an enjoyable and well-run day. We would highly recommend Prince of Whales to anyone visiting Telegraph Cove especially families.
Super Guide, a lot of animals seen.
Thank you for your 5-star review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your tour with us and got to see so many amazing animals! We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to our crew. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back on another adventure soon!
Amazing crew (Connor, Seb, Briar and Adam), took us out this afternoon; great boat with top and lower deck, great views and really successful mission, respectfully seeing lots of Orca and Humpbacks. Briar was knowledgeable, shared the stories of the beautiful creatures and environment. Would recommend in a heartbeat - thank you so much for the amazing memories.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad you had such a successful afternoon and appreciated the respectful way the orcas and humpbacks were viewed. It’s great to hear that Briar’s knowledge and stories about the animals and their environment stood out. Thank you for joining us and for recommending the tour so highly!
Super nice crew on land and on board. The captain knows exactly where to find seals and whales. At the same time, a gentle way of observing with distance to the animals and the necessary respect. It is possible to ask questions throughout the entire trip, every sighting is reported, everyone gets a good view, and since a photographer is on board and the photos are emailed to you free of charge afterwards, you can fully enjoy the trip without a phone or camera in front of your face. Good price-performance ratio in comparison.
We took Prince of Whales’ large-boat tour rather than the Zodiac and overall had a very enjoyable three hours. It’s a little expensive for a tour on a large boat, but we saw an impressive variety of wildlife: orcas, humpback whales, bald eagles, sea otters, Dall’s porpoises, seals, and sea lions. It’s worth setting expectations about the whale watching. The boats stay a considerable distance from the whales, which is obviously better for the animals. That being said, if you’ve done a winter whale-watching trip in Baja Mexico, where the encounters can be remarkably close, you may find this experience a little disappointing by comparison. Our main interest was seeing orcas, and we did see several. They’re just more difficult to watch because they don’t spend nearly as much time above the surface as humpbacks. Even aside from the wildlife, this was a peaceful, very calm three-hour boat ride with fantastic views of the Inside Passage, so we enjoyed simply being out on the water. The crew was excellent. Captain Jake did an outstanding job finding wildlife while keeping the ride remarkably smooth. Adam, one of the naturalists, was approachable, funny, and had a lot of information to share. Kennedy was stationed on the upper level, so we didn’t interact with her much, but she took a couple dozen very good photos during the trip that were made available to us to download for free—a really nice touch. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and an easy four stars for us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review, Gary! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such an enjoyable day on the water and were able to experience such an incredible variety of wildlife, including orcas, humpback whales, sea otters, Dall’s porpoises, seals, and bald eagles. We really appreciate your understanding of the importance of maintaining a respectful distance from the whales. Our crews follow local wildlife-viewing guidelines to help protect these incredible animals, and we’re glad you appreciated the care taken throughout your experience. It’s wonderful to hear that Captain Jake kept the ride smooth while finding so much wildlife, and that Adam’s knowledge and personality added to your experience. We’ll also be sure to pass along your kind words to Kennedy, we’re so glad you enjoyed the complimentary photos! Thank you again for joining us and for your recommendation. We hope to welcome you aboard again for another peaceful day on the water!
We had a lovely afternoon trip - the naturalists and crew were knowledgeable and friendly (Adam, Kennedy and Jake). We saw loads of humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, porpoises and more. The boat wasn’t too crowded; and there was a lower deck that was sheltered, which was important for our group. All in all a lovely day.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We’re thrilled you had such a lovely afternoon with Adam, Kennedy, and Jake. It sounds like you had an incredible variety of wildlife sightings! We’re also glad the boat and sheltered lower deck worked well for your group. We hope to see you again soon!
Quite the whale watching experience! Kennedy, Jake and Connor made it really memorable: all the way from the safety briefing, through the numerous sightings of Orcas, a humpback breaching and sea-lions rock-lolling. Thanks PoW Crew!
Thank you for the wonderful review, Darryl! We’re so glad the team made your tour memorable from the safety briefing through to the numerous orca sightings, breaching humpback, and sea lions lounging on the rocks! We hope to welcome you aboard again soon for another adventure.
Unfortunately our half day tour was cancelled the night before and we didn’t didn’t see the email until we arrived that morning. We were told it was due to mechanical issues with the cruiser. There were no alternatives available that day and we had travelled quite far to get there with plans to travel somewhere else afterwards. It was quite frustrating as we could not complete what we had planned and had pretty much wasted a day of our holiday with it being too short notice to book anything else. We are still awaiting a refund.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry that the cancellation disrupted your plans, particularly after you had travelled such a long way and no alternative departure was available. Mechanical issues can occur unexpectedly, and safety must always determine whether a vessel can operate. However, we understand that a refund cannot compensate for the lost day or disappointment. If you are still waiting to receive your refund, please contact us directly at sales@princeofwhales.com or +1 888-383-4884 with your booking reference so we can confirm its status.
