Tournée des décors et des lieux de Star Wars en Tunisie

We were given a guided tour of the highlights of Tunisia by Jamel over one week. He acted as driver and guide. We spent 6 days travelling around Tunisia and visiting the various Roman ruins, Arabic forts and the wonders of the desert. Jamel was very knowledgeable and it was a delight to spend the time with him. His contacts in the various locations enabled us to take advantage of extra activities, from Camel riding to riding on quad bikes in the desert. Thank you Jamel for looking after us so well.

The first day on Djerba, we visited a hideout in Obi-Wan. It was a place I might have missed if I was traveling on my own, but it was a wonderful day with sunny skies. On the second day we went from Cott El Jerid to Tozeur . We went on and on, straight ahead, and in the middle of a salt lake we were moved to see the horizon as far as the eye could see. On the third day, we visited a mountain oasis in the morning, switched to 4WD in the afternoon to enjoy the streets of Ong Jmal and Mos Espa , and then visited the set of Lars Family Homestead locations at dusk. It was the most interesting and valuable experience of the tour. On the fourth day, we visited Sidi Bouhlel , then headed to the town of Douz and then Matmata . Take a break with a beer at Sidi Driss's bar. On the fifth day, we looked around at the Ksar of Médenine, Haddad and Ouled Soltane. I felt that decades ago, the local buildings were used as filming locations for the film, and the result was very impressive. The tour departs from Djerba and we asked our guide, Jamel, to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. Pickup was no problem at all because I was sending messages beforehand. Unfortunately, the return flight was cancelled due to TunisAir Express, but the guide suggested some arrangements for the trip to Tunis, which was great. In the end, I chose to fly the next morning on the fifth day of the tour, but the flexibility of the airport drop-off was also helpful. The tour doesn't include lunch or dinner, but Jamel asked me what I wanted to eat and gave me recommendations, so I was grateful to be able to eat delicious food there. However, be careful if you are only a traveler and want to eat at a restaurant without a menu. Try to check the price before ordering. I visit three to five places every day, but the schedule is not strict. There are days when you can travel nearly 350 km in a day, but if you are traveling by long-distance bus etc., this is not a problem. The guides are very friendly, and I think this is a sightseeing tour that will fully immerse you in the world of Star Wars, as they will explain in detail at the tourist attractions.
