Mike was fantastic. He was flexible, we had issues with train stations and he was able to advise us on the best course of action. Fluent English speaking! He has a great and obvious love for history. Mike also was able to suggest other topics we could look into after the trip. Highly suggest reaching out to him with your ideal timeline and letting him suggest your itinerary if you don’t have one.
Hi Jack, What a wonderful review, thank you so much - it was my sincere pleasure to meet you both and to be your guide. Kindest regards, Mike
Allied Victory Tours and Mike gave my wife and I an unbelievable experience. We booked an all-day custom tour which began with Mike picking us up at the Bayeux train station. We proceeded to our first stop, Normandy Beach. Based on information I provided about my great-uncle's service in the 1st Infantry Div., Mike was able to research where his unit landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and their movement from the beach inland. Mike is a wealth of knowledge and provided so much information as we traveled from Normandie to the Brittany American Cemetery, where my great-uncle is buried. It was at the cemetery that Mike helped facilitate one of the most emotional and unforgettable experiences of my life. Upon arriving at the cemetery office, Mike introduced us as family members and the staff on duty had us sign the family visitor book and then accompanied us to the gravesite where they placed an American flag and rubbed sand from Omaha Beach into the headstone to highlight the engraving. I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life. I am forever grateful to Mike for his kindness, knowledge and attention to detail as he provided a truly once in a lifetime memory for us. Book your tour with Allied and Mike and you will not be disappointed!!
Never has history felt more alive than when we did the Normandy area with Mike. I was mind blown, in the truest sense of the word, at his knowledge and his ability to make me feel like I was a part of history itself. He told us just enough details to be truly in awe, but not so much that he was rattling on and we were boring. Never would I have been able to comprehend the magnitude of that invasion without his expertise. My only regret is that I didn’t bring more of my family with me. If you’re even thinking of getting a guide, do it. And use Mike!
Hello Emily, It is a thrill to learn that you had such a wonderful experience - I too had a brilliant time spending the day in great company! Thank you for taking the time to write such kind words, it means a lot to me. Looking forward to seeing you back again in the not-too-distant future! All the very best, Mike
Wonderful day trip with Mike between Christmas & New Years. We took our 12yr old son & 15yr old daughter. He did a great job of involving them in the conversation and kept their attention with details and stories. Highly recommend him.
Hi Derek, Thank you so much for that wonderful review - it means a lot to me that you all had such a great experience! It was an absolute joy to meet your family and be your guide. Warm regards, Mike
Our tour with Mike was outstanding. He worked with us to tailor a tour that was specific to my Great Uncle John Supco, who was killed in action at the Battle of Carentan. Mike seems to know everything about the Normandy invasion and Campaign but can just as easily converse about all things Normandy and WWII. He was always given context and made the tour accessible to armchair experts on WWII and novices alike. Most importantly, Mike has a generosity of spirit who made the entire experience fun and relaxed. If you want a tour of Normandy, get one with Mike!
Hi John, Wow thank you so much for that incredible review - it means a lot to me that you had such a wonderful experience! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and an honour to walk in your great uncle's footsteps. Warm regards from Normandy, Mike
A second-to-none experience. Mike was accommodating, knowledgable, and passionate about sharing the D-day experience with us. Would we book another tour with Mike? Without question. Don't look any further -- Mike is the guide to give you the best experience.
I am so happy that you had a fantastic experience - it was a joy to meet you and be your guide! All the very best from a piping hot Normandy! Mike
Mike was kind, patient and incredibly knowledgeable. He designed our day specifically around our interests. We cannot recommend him enough - 5 stars!
Hi Loree Anne, it is so wonderful to read that you had a wonderful experience - it means the world to me! Thank you for writing this great review. All the very best, Mike
My children book this tour for my 60th birthday present. Needless to say this was the best birthday present ever. Allied Victor Tours was amazing, and our tour Guide Mike van den Dobbelsteen was awesome. His personality and knowledge made this trip so memorable. If you ever get the opportunity to visit the Normandy area I would strongly encourage you to reach out and book a tour and request Mike.
I am thrilled that you had a wonderful birthday present. Thank you so very much for writing such a nice review - it is thanks to people like you that makes this 'job' just the best in the world. Thank you and best wishes, Mike
Our family of 6 embarked on a Normandy tour which included 2 infant twins with car seats. We were so lucky to have found Allied tours through a friend who previously used him. Mike the driver was so knowledgeable and helpful. He accommodated us to various locations and his knowledge made our day so interesting. We felt very safe with him at all times. I highly recommend Allied if you are looking for a tour guide/driver. Mike will make your day so interesting and you will learn so much more culture. And his recommendations were perfect! Thank you Mike for a very memorable and safe day!
Hi Anita, Wow thank you so much for that incredible review - it means a lot to me that you had such a wonderful experience! It was an absolute joy to meet your family and be your guide. Warm regards, Mike
I met Mike at the train station in Bayeux France with three members of my family. Mike was waiting for us with a big smile and new vehicle with plenty of room. I knew as soon as we met Mike that we were going to have a great tour. Mike is very knowledgeable and easy to talk with. Due to Mikes in-depth knowledge of the invasion beaches , I would recommend doing your homework and prepare questions for him because he will surely be able to answer them in detail. It is obvious Mike enjoys touring people and makes the entire experience enjoyable. By taking a private tour you will avoid the tour bus crowds. I can’t say enough good about Allied Victory Tours and Mike. I highly recommend them and have done so for friends and other family members. October was a perfect time of the year. The setting of the beaches and Allied Cemetery was impressive and respectful.
WOW! I am so happy that you had a fantastic experience - it was a joy to meet you and be your guide! All the very best from a piping hot Normandy! Mike
