Déclaré lieu d'intérêt naturel par l'UNESCO et monument naturel par le gouvernement des îles Canaries, l'intégrant au réseau canarien d'espaces naturels protégés. La grotte de Las Palomas a été formée à la suite de l'éruption volcanique du volcan San Juan en 1949. Elle possède plus de 10 ouvertures qui apportent de la lumière naturelle à différents points du parcours, étant certaines de ces anciennes fumerolles à travers lesquelles passait la lave. et des gaz sulfureux chauds s'échappant lors de la formation du tube. La dimension du tube est d’environ 3 mètres de large pour 560 mètres de longueur environ. Son intérêt scientifique est éminemment géologique et est accru par son importance biologique puisqu'il héberge une faune particulière d'invertébrés.

A good visit to a "lava tunnel," with the exceptional help of Mario, a guide born in La Palma, who explains things very well and provides a lot of (very interesting) information about the island. If you are claustrophobic, it is not your best option. But it is not an excursion where you have to crawl on the ground. You only have to duck a little from time to time, and be careful with the terrain so you don't fall.
I loved this excursion. It is amazing and for the price of the excursion, you also visit the other cave, the Glass one. And the museum which is also very interesting. We had a super fun guide and he conveyed the information very well. It was very hot that day, however, inside it was wonderful!!!
Super informative and fascinating. We went almost 600 meters into the cave and saw lots of cool formations.
I visited with my parter. They booked it I had no idea what to expect. I was nervous as the start as it’s all a little overwhelming not knowing what we were doing as I thought I was just going to the visitors centre, not walking over the bridges and into the tunnel which was fantastic, the tour guide was AMAZING. She spoke to us all and was really friendly, it didn’t feel like a lesson but I learnt so much. She didn’t rush us or act like she was on a time limit it was our own experience and I really enjoyed it. You seriously do get really good value for money and a life memory. I would highly recommend. Small group as well with maximum of 12 people.

Very interesting visit on volcanoes and more specifically on the volcanic eruption of 2021.
It was a really cool experience. Our guide was very friendly and super enthousiastic. The tunnel was beautiful to visit and we learned a lot!
The experience and guide were great. The volcanic tube itself lived up to expectations. Took me a bit of time to find the meeting point but followed the directoons on the app
Mario was a great interactive guide in the lava tubes. Well worth a visit if you want to learn about the the volcanic history of the area from a locals point of view.
The tour was very interesting and our guide made it very entertaining. for the part outside the cave necessarily bring a hat, it was very hot on the lava field
