Elle joue un rôle fondamental dans la supervision et la régulation du système financier, ainsi que dans l'émission et le contrôle de la monnaie nationale. Le bâtiment de la Banque centrale est une œuvre architecturale exceptionnelle qui reflète l'importance et la solidité de cette institution. Il a été construit dans les années 1980 et son design moderne et élégant en fait un point de repère visuel dans le paysage urbain de San Jose.
Enfin, nous continuerons à marcher vers le marché central. Avec plus d'un siècle d'histoire, ce marché est une étape incontournable pour les visiteurs qui souhaitent explorer la vie quotidienne authentique du Costa Rica et découvrir une grande variété de produits locaux. En entrant dans le Marché Central, vous vous plongerez dans un environnement animé et coloré. Ses couloirs étroits et labyrinthiques abritent un large éventail d'étals et de boutiques proposant toutes sortes de produits, des fruits, légumes et fruits de mer frais à l'artisanat, aux vêtements et aux souvenirs. L'une des principales attractions du marché est son offre gastronomique variée. What an experience! Juan Manuel was an AWESOME tour guide! He was thorough and so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all things Costa Rica! He took his time walking us around San Jose and highlighting lots of information about past leaders, politics, architecture, food, birds, and even the Detroit Pistons! Juan Manuel was truly a joy to be around, and by the end of our tour, we felt like family! We had quick stops for ice cream, coffee, and souvenirs as well. If you love history, culture, and want to feel the hustle and bustle of downtown San Jose, this tour is a must do! We had a very informative and interesting tour with a lovely young lady. Sorry forgot her name but it started with a O. Unfortunately this is only a 2 hour walking tour and is quite expensive. Actually it cost more than European city tours.

On Sundays, however, the Central Market is closed, so the itinerary is slightly shorter. Also, your booking was for a private tour, which is priced higher than our regular shared walking tour. This was an excellent walking tour of central San Jose. We saw all of the highlights of this under-rated city. Our guide, Frank was exceptional. He was friendly and informative and was genuinely proud of his city and country. He made it a very enjoyable experience. The small breaks (with an included water, small gift, and coffee) were a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this experience when in San Jose.

We just completed our small group walking tour with Andrea (our local guide) who was excellent and so knowledgeable about the city of San Jose and Costa Rica in general.
