Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The Slănic Salt Mine is absolutely worth visiting. Our driver-guide drove very safely and provided all the necessary information throughout the trip. Highly recommended!
It is cold for sure but inside is very breathtaking seeing it. For Americans it’s about 50 degrees F so definitely a jacket and pants. They have events inside which is kinda surprising I didn’t think there was anything in there so it is family friendly as well.
incredible experience!! wish we could have stayed longer. drive there and back was great, stopped halfway through which was nice. small group which we loved
100 years of salt mining the resulted in 13-story high caverns that boggles the mind. Plenty of child-related activities for families. Would have liked a closer look at the uncompleted caverns that were left at the time mining ceased.
Interesting tour with Christian who was a great guide. A tip for others travelling. Bring something warmer to wear than you think you need. At first the 55 degree temperature feels fine but after an hour as your body temperature drops more it gets pretty chilly.
My former student recommended this experience after doing some research and I’m so grateful that I went! It was breathtaking.
An incredible experience 210 meters underground! Only 13 degrees in the cave, so don’t forget to bring a sweater or jacket! There is a café where you can get sandwiches and coffee!
The Salt Mine day trip from Bucharest was a really unique experience and definitely worth doing. The tour was well organized, informative, and comfortable throughout the day. The salt mine itself is impressive- huge underground spaces, cool atmosphere, and something very different from the usual tourist attractions. There was enough free time to walk around, take photos, and enjoy the experience at your own pace. The views and surrounding areas were also beautiful during the drive. A great escape from the city and a memorable day trip from Bucharest.
Certainly an impressive natural man-made formation and it’s easy to appreciate how unique and fantastically underground spaces the scale of the mine is striking and it’s something quite different from typical tourist attractions However, as a day trip it fell underwhelming overall the travel time is quite long compared to what’s available once you arrive realistically around two hours inside the mine is more than enough to see everything unfortunately there isn’t much to do beyond walking around and taking in the space boat ride which might have added more interest no longer operating there are a few activities like small cinemas but these are in Romanian which limits accessibility for international visitors
It will leave you breathless, there is nothing else I can say. While I am a Romanian living abroad it never ceases to amaze me the beauty you can find in my country. Daniel the guide was awesome and the whole experience we cant recommend enough 10/10!
